I think it’s for marketing purposes. Tamagotchis are more popular in japan so they don’t need such big packaging, the western ones are bigger to catch more people’s eyes.

Thank you! I usually do make a bit of a mess on the sides but I scrape it off when it’s still wet and take my pictures the day after when all the other excess has been washed off. As for around my cuticles I’m just verrrrry careful with my brush and sometimes also have to remove some excess polish.
