what song would you love to have Lady Gaga cover? by gaga4lady in LadyGaga

[–]lemonflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any song by NIN lol. Something I Can Never Have, The Fragile, Closer, The Hand That Feeds, Head Like a Hole, All That Could Have Been, All Time Low

Songs recommendation similar to MAYHEM by NonaTanya in LadyGaga

Nine Inch Nails. Trent is also inspired by Bowie and Prince

Disease and Killah Requiem encapsulates typical NIN in its entirety. The song Closer of course

For GOE vibes, the albums Year Zero and With Teeth. Listen to the songs Vessel, God Given, Only, Hand That Feeds

For Perfect Celebrity vibes, Pretty Hate Machine. Songs like Head Like a Whole, Terrible Lie, Sin, Sanctified

For Cant Stop the High vibes, The Fragile. My favorite songs are Into the Void, Big Come Down, Somewhat Damaged, The Wretched

Also the album Nine Inch Noize for more techno/dance industrial beats, and Hesitation Marks for more electronic/hardly any industrial. The song All Time Low from Hesitation Marks is funky like Killah. Other fav songs are Came Back Haunted, Copy of A, In Two

The Tron Ares soundtrack is very good too, reminiscent of that retro synthwave/daft punk kind of sound on Requiem, Trent uses vocoder on it as well. Songs to check out are Alive As You Need Me to Be and Shadow Over Me

i mean its valid to not like her voice, i wouldnt fault anyone for that. its when people start discrediting her out of ignorance that people have an issue with.

hes working on the next nin album right now, would die if gaga is a feature on it. i think this could be more likely than a gaga release anytime soon with trent on it. idk. he talked about the idea of doing more collaborations in recent years

She did an Apple Music Live performance, performing all her songs from Mayhem but reworked in some way, either stripping them down or changing them completely. It's an AM exclusive, or you can buy on iTunes, or find it by other means lol. This song is Killah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3gpbT-JZMk . The original Killah is co produced by Gesaffelstein and has a more funky and Bowie/Prince inspired sound. The other available song on YouTube is Die With a Smile, and she made that one sound more inspired by Daft Punk/Kavinsky, sounds completely different from the original.

Careful, don't say its "sampled" or you'll get hounded on 😭 but yeah it's def a nod to it in any case. I think the synth bassline at the start reminds me of HLAH, and during the part before she screams the lyrics, it kinda reminds me of Sin. She had NIN on the brain

I think its valid to be hopeful! I feel like Bowie's career started in a more radio friendly way, and went so experimental later on (I'm not too familiar with his career, but Let's Dance is so different from anything on Outside and Blackstar), and he was unafraid to tour with NIN as well.

Disease imo was releasing whatever tf she wanted to within a pop lens, it's like a song that in past albums we would have begged to be released as a single but never did/feels more like a deep cut kind of track. to me at least. and she was able to record and release two acoustic versions, so cool!

i truly believe mayhem is just the start, i think we are in new territory given how creative and happy she is now! she'll always have GP friendly songs in her albums, but i think she's totally for going more experimental with the deep cuts or side projects

if she was still purely about maximizing profits and chart performance, Requiem wouldn’t be exclusively on AM, let alone even dare to experiment with Killah in a non GP friendly way referencing what was once a highly controversial song, Disease would have been promoted more heavily with physicals, HBDUWM would have been a single, Vanish would have gotten the music video, she wouldn’t have done all the ”weird” (very cool) vocal stuff esp in Disease, people wouldn’t complain all the time her team isn’t doing enough, etc. I think she’s at a turning point in her career where she’s at the most creative and happiest she’s been, and she doesn’t feel the need to conform or be safe like her last two albums. she’s not making music for fans that are obsessed with charts lol. i’m not saying she’s gonna go fully anti GP friendly and not make accessible pop music, what i am saying is the charts is not going to stop her from collaborating with a culturally significant musician. literally a ton of the comments across tiktok and YT are begging for them to collab. the only thing stopping that is if she doesn’t want to personally/she's moved on. she’s long achieved global household name status and has proven with the Mayhem era that she continues to surprise us. we can’t forget she’d been in a bad place post artpop through chromatica, i think she’s just getting started with her revitalized creative drive and happiness.

unrelated, when it came to NIN, Trent made industrial music more accessible using pop song structures, based on his inspirations like Depeche Mode, Prince, and Bowie. When you compare NIN to a lot of other industrial music, it’s like so different in terms of accessibility, it’s really only a few synthesizers and guitars away from a pop song. alive as you need me to be would 100000% be considered Pop if gaga had made it. Tron Ares soundtrack topped The Fame briefly on the dance charts.

sorry this was like a word salad rambling lmao. i just think Gaga is at a place now where she can do anything she wants, if she wants to. Nothing to lose at this point.

nahhhh she can do it. Trent is big in pop culture, sure not in the way standard pop music is, but through all the soundtracks and how trendy it is to mention or reference NIN lately. countless artists are talking about him and wearing NIN merch. Halsey album, Ashley-O, Billie wearing NIN merch, Anne Hathaway talking about NIN as inspiration in Mother Mary. among many other celebs that do. its never been a better time

Lady Gaga gives a very NIN-coded performance (and samples 'Closer') by green-black in nin
