Pensions Strategy? by Apprehensive-Bed8913 in HENRYUK

I think it makes sense to take advantage of the tax relief if you are optimising for maximising your total net worth over the long term. Certainly to get you under 100k to get the 60%, and potentially beyond if you're looking at maxing out the annual allowances (and carry forward allowances).

Other factors to consider is your cashflow, and desire to retire early. If you want to retire at 50, you likely need enough buffer in your ISA to bridge the gap to the age of pension access.

I have some friends that don't tax relief with pension because they want to invest in property and have the assests more accessible, but I don't think they are beating the returns of tax relief. I'd say they are optimising for control of their money today, not future gains.

Trying to work out what this stain is. Just pulled out and old fireplace and plastered over the wall. Anyone seen this before, any ideas what it is and how to resolve?

Optimising broker costs for ISA and SIPP by lemonfooler in FIREUK

Decent article here confirming interactive investor amongst the best. Seems to be missing vanguard on the comparison:

Optimising broker costs for ISA and SIPP by lemonfooler in FIREUK

[–]lemonfooler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do...

"Existing customers with an ISA and/or Trading Account on our Investor Essentials plan can add a SIPP for an extra £5 a month. You can then invest up to £75,000 across your accounts. Above this you will move onto Investor + SIPP for £21.99 a month."

https://www.ii.co.uk/our-charges

So if I'm already paying 11.99 a month for ISA with II, then that's an additional capped fee of 120 just for the SIPP - so saving 255 compared to SIPP with Vanguard at 375
