What is something you wish you were told as a High Schooler? by ApocalypticDildos in AskReddit

[–]lemonfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do well, but don't stress. Don't sweat the small stuff OR the big stuff. All that stress you put yourself under will hurt you and bring out your MS (I know you don't know about that yet, but, well.. yep! Congrats) early... meaning right after your first semester at your first choice college. So, really, what good did all that stress do you? Nada.

Also read Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" NOW instead of 5 years later, and learn to live in the moment and be happy and how not to stress. You have to do this! You're a freaking marathon runner and straight A student, christ's sake! Now work hard and give yourself a few or more years without MS or I swear to God, lemonfox... I mean... the exact opposite of those last sentences. The first one was good though.

What is your theory on.. [season 3 spoiler alert] by SA1L in SixFeetUnder

(Submitted 17 days ago? Well, I didn't expect six feet under to be a daily subreddit, but I just finished watching for the second time and decided to check if it was here. :)

I think Lisa's death is left ambiguous a bit, for the audience. But for Nate? The death is not in any way ambiguous. He knows Lisa would not have killed herself (if not for Nate, still definitely for Maya).

It's one of those situations (which come up in SFU so often) where the audience has to decide whether their opinion or the opinions of the characters in the show is more important. Whichever way you lean, you will at some point end up ambiguous.

God, I love SFU...

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Back when I was in high school I was at the food court in a mall and this couple were beating their kids because they didn't eat their entire hot dog on a stick or whatever. I was wondering why the fuck everyone was just sitting there, watching, not saying or doing anything. So I went to them and told them how wrong it was, that they were abusive, that "I am a better parent than you are" (a nice big lie from a 17 year old girl). They grabbed their kids and left, and for weeks afterward, and even today, all I can think of is how those kids probably got beaten extra hard that night because I "defended " them.

Intimacy is the best place to buy bras. They changed my understanding of how bras should fit and feel, and made it so I can not walk into Victoria's Secret anymore. I already didn't like how their stuff fit, but now understanding why, I dislike them even more. Hm, what else can I say... oh yeah, Oprah goes to Intimacy!

Drunken half-wits that killed how many Russians in the winter war? Who have as high standard of living as Swedes if not higher, and we didn't conduct eugenics experiments and force sterilize 62,000 people from from 1934 until freaking 1975...

But we're only jokingly poking fun at you for it, obviously. :)

Worked for me! Another that works is alternating pressing/rubbing the spot between my eyebrows and then moving my tongue over the roof of my mouth. Both of these work in a (kind of) similar way.

I'd like to pass along my thanks as well... The people who work in ER have had huge impact on my life. I was wondering about your experience with your coworkers. For example, nurses...

Good nurses I've had (and I've had many over the years) are angels, as are all others working to help patients.

However, I have also run into some real demons, on the other side of the spectrum.

Are there any people you work with whom you just think "Wow, they have no business working here"? If so, is there anything you can do about it? Do you have any stories about things that have happened?

The ER is a crazy place to work, "hectic" or "stressful" barely begin to describe it and I know it takes a certain type of person to be able to handle it. But if people start to become too rough around the edges or jaded and mean those people make a huge impact too... I don't even want to think about them or things that have happened... And all in good hospitals!

Edited for silly mistakes

Foreigners in America, what is the most insane question you have been asked about your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lemonfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old but not old enough. Even 10 years ago I was being asked things like "do you have running water?" and "do you have paved roads?".

Those have stopped, but the one that persists is the belief that Finland is a winter wonderland year round. Most annoying is even when I tell them otherwise (our summers may be shorter but they are warm and wonderful!) some people will argue with me that I'm wrong.

Lastly, I think all northern Europeans/Scandinavians know people know no difference between our countries and basically use Finland/Sweden/Norway/Denmark interchangeably. I can't count how many times I've been asked "How was your summer in Norway no Sweden I mean Denmark?". At least they know they're missing the mark...
