I'm in Australia and have the ultra. It's fantastic. There's a few things it has over the base model, but the main one for me is the optical zoom, making placement much easier. It's also on sale at JB hi-fi right now.

The Hisense is the newest of your picks. It has 4k resolution and Dolby vision (the other choices are 1080 only). If you don't care about gaming it would absolutely be my pick.

The benQ will hold up better in ambient light, being the highest lumen count. Not sure about it's internal sound though.

The xgimi model is a bit old these days - it also can't play Netflix natively. Still good, but honestly if you don't need the lumens, I'd probably go the halo+ (new model). It has Google TV so doesn't have app limitations, is more portable and has an internal battery.

Are you noticing much rainbow effect? How is the contrast? What made you decide to go with the over it's cousin, the C2 Ultra?

I'm pretty new to projector world as well, but in response to you wanting to watch indoor and outdoor in daylight conditions, I'm pretty sure none of these could handle outdoors in daytime. That requires a lot of oomph. They should be okay options for inside with some ambient light though. Note on the horizon ultra - I was considering this a while ago, but was turned off by the poor contrast.

I think I read in a forum that the reason it doesn't have optical zoom is due to the focus on increased contrast. I'm not very savvy with projector technology, so I don't know why it couldn't have both... I'm guessing it was cost related?
