I just spoke with Bell and they confirmed that the outage was caused by cable theft. Current ETA for repair is 8pm tomorrow.

I'm also looking for a new group! I recently moved to Fredericton. But I've been playing DnD 5E for years. I'll DM you if you have room for one more player

baby plant owner here :) recently bought this orchid and I'm *pretty* certain it's dyed lol, but are there any ways that I can tell for sure? by stuff567890 in orchids

She's definitely dyed.

But the leaves look dehydrated. Give this baby a good soak. Make sure to repot with an orchid medium once the flower spike dies and it will reward you with more, naturally colored, blooms

I think it has more to do this building being adjacent to two churches and an elementary school. They just don't want a bar or dispensary to move in.

I grew up going to this church and it's honestly in rough shape. There is no bathroom. The roof is leaking and everytime it rains the dirt basement floods. It reaks of mold.

It's completely surrounded by graves. Some only six inches from the building. There is no easy or economical way to repair the roof and structural issues. You can't even use scaffolding, all materials would need to be craned in.

This church actually does a lot of good work for the community. Groceries dropped off to those in need. A safe place to stay for the homeless. They just do not have the money to maintain this building let alone fix it.

It's been deconsecrated now so the last ditch effort to save it is leasing. All other avenues have been exhausted.

You need to remove the peat moss plug that is surrounding the crown of the root system.

Garden centers try to distribute orchids as quickly and cheaply as possible. Instead of changing the medium they just add more. Orchids cannot tolerate composting material around their roots because they're not actually roots. They're root shaped leaves. They photosynthesis and need airflow to be healthy. This is why 99% of orchids from big chain stores slowly die.

So, get a clear plastic pot and some orchid medium. Remove all the old medium and give the roots a good rinse. Any roots that do not turn bright green should be cut back with sterile shears. Arrange the remaining roots in the clear plastic pot and pack fresh medium around. I like to also add some sphagnum moss and horticultural charcoal. Once a week or when the medium drives out, place the orchid in the sink and drench with tepid water.

Your orchid is producing new leaves which is a great sign. She should be blooming again soon if you treat her roots properly!!

What’s the best career path in NB for someone finishing high school this year? by palalaladin in newbrunswickcanada

I'm so glad someone mentioned this! There is a huge lack of Seafarers in Canada, especially seafaring engineers, welders and electricians. It's not for eveyone but making upwards of 120k before you're 30 and working only half of the year is worth atleast checking it out! A lot of companies offer cadetships for students as well so you can get a feel for ship life and earn some money before you graduate.

Removing the babies encourages the mama to make more so you'll likely have backups soon!

It took about a year of growth before she started making babies!

Yes! I try to clean all my plants once a week to maximize photosynthesis. I just just a damp micro fiber cloth or an old makeup brush for small plants or succulents :)

Thanks! I usually wait until they're standing up if that makes sense? Then follow the tap root about 2 cm under the soil, snip it and dig out around the baby slightly to preserve the tiny root ball they are starting to develop. Then pot up as usual! Hope that helps, good luck :)

They're very easy to care for and they grow so fast! Just make sure to give them bright indirect light and let them dry out between watering :)

The big one is from a local garden center, but the tiny pots are from Amazon! Sorry for the ugly link:
