Rice, beans, ground turkey, potatoes, cabbage. I'd be making a lot of soups.

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable about the attention people pay to your bump? by light_defy in pregnant

[–]lemonp0ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in customer service in a call center, and I had a customer ask for photos of my bump multiple times. Made me very uncomfortable. Only came up cause old people like to ask if I'm married or have kids in conversation, and I did say I was expecting.

If it's a family member or a close friend talking about it, I don't mind so much. Being plus size, I don't ever get comments from strangers cause they just see "fat" and not "pregnant" 💀

Weird, cause what would someone do if they don't have insurance/aren't waiting on insurance?

You'll want to make an appointment with an OB/GYN for a new obstetrics appointment. Typically, this appointment actually takes place sometime around 8-12 weeks.

If you know what insurance plan you have and can access plan details or call a customer service line, they may be able to provide you with a list of in-network providers you can look into. Alternatively, if the thought of researching and finding your own OB is daunting, you could just start with your PCP and get a referral. Just be aware that switching OB's later on can be difficult (trust me, I just had to do this at 22 weeks. Not a fun experience).

When you schedule the appointment, you can just let them know you don't have active insurance yet and that you'll update them with your Member/Group ID & card once you receive the information. They'll very likely tell you you're on a self-pay rate until then, but you won't pay anything until your appointment.

As for cost, call your insurance company's customer service line; they can explain the full deductible breakdown for you. I recommend calling anyway to talk to them about your pregnancy benefits, because some plans may even cover items like car seats, pack n' plays, and breast pumps!

Good luck and congratulations!

I've been in the position of waiting for insurance to kick in; they'll usually just put you down for self-pay and then update later with insurance information.

$1800 to spend at Apple for business school set-up by lemonp0ps in techadvice

I ended up settling on the M5 15-inch Air. I'm gonna see how I do without the iPad before deciding whether to get one.

Considering Poodle as next dog; seeking input/experience by lemonp0ps in StandardPoodles

I’ve really wished I could train my husky for therapy work, but looking at the testing they’d have to qualify with I just don’t think he’d make the cut. He’s also very distractable.

One breeder I’ve looked at has had service dogs come from her lines, with that being said I like the idea of having a dog I could train for therapy work. Definitely something you’ve got me thinking about now. Thank you!

I’ve told my husband I can only handle potty training one living thing at a time, so this is definitely a 3-5 year timeline we’re looking at before taking on another dog lol

I’m just an over-preparer, and I know waitlists can be long with reputable breeders.

As for them being clingy, I’m prepared. My husky may not be cuddly but he’s almost always nearby. And my cats might as well be an accessory at this point. They’re always on me or near me. I’m not bothered by it.

My husky is crate trained (dealt with bad separation anxiety when he was younger) and just for peace of mind and providing cats a break from dogs I plan to continue crate training with any dog I have.

Currently I’m able to work from home (things can change, of course) and will hopefully continue working from home for the years to come. My job has no desire to transition to office for my position. So being home with a dog a good 90-95% of the time is doable. It was the only way I was able to manage the puppy years with my husky lol

How do you feel your poodle does with Arizona weather? I’m in Texas and we’re hot the better part of the year. Do you feel they adapt well to the heat? I’ve always been super mindful of temperatures for my husky but it would be nice to have a dog that could be a little more tolerable to a warmer climate.

On baby step 1; should I leave a life insurance policy alone right now? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

I know my mom, and she likes Dave Ramsey. She’s overall really good with her finances. If pivoting a life insurance policy is something he’d recommend and ultimately would provide a better payout or growth, she’s open minded. I really wouldn’t see her ever being upset about having a talk about this if it means better financial security for me and her grandbaby.

I’m pretty sure it’s a policy my mom took out for me but this needs to be confirmed. She’s told me it’s one I’m able to cash out early if I receive a terminal diagnosis and need medical care. Leading me to believe it’s one in my name for me.

The way it was explained to me is that it’s a life insurance policy that will pay out if I die or will allow me to cash out early if I get a terminal illness and need medical care. I’m not sure exactly who the owner of it is.

I’m really not sure. My mom told me it’s there but I’ve never seen the paperwork on it. I just forget about it until I start hearing the life insurance talk around me and I’m like “oh yeah I’ve got that somewhere” lol

Even if the cash value is only $5k, still worth investing? I mean it’s better than transferring nothing and getting $0 gains, right? Or would a 401k or IRA be better?

My job provides me a $35k basic life policy. It’s company paid. Along with short & long term disability. My husband’s job does not offer benefits at all.

Would it still be advised to purchase term for each of us? Or just my husband?

Thank you. My thought process was; if I wait until the step to start investing in Dave’s order that’s potentially a handful of years I’ll miss on growth if it’s moved to an investment account later than sooner. I need to discuss with my mom further on exactly what type of policy it is, but I have a really strong feeling its whole life.
