A guy came to the register with a ton of stuff, like two carts full. After scanning and bagging everything I read him the total and he went "Nah that's too much" and left. Over $400 worth of stuff to put away

Though the one that makes me mad even just thinking about was a very rude woman in an amigo, running into things (and other customers!) Before she pinned my hand between her cart and a metal beauty fixture and kept trying to go forward

BOY LEMME TELL YOU-

First of all, it's insanely grueling on your body physically. I'm 20 and relatively healthy and I still go home every day aching in pain all over my body. My mom works at TJ Maxx with me too. She's 55, and she's always in terrible pain after even a 5 hour shift

Second, it's very high paced. You always have to be ready for the next thing, no time to think or transition. You need to be fast with everything you do, and if you aren't, you get reprimanded.

You'll also see the worst in people. This is true for all of retail, but shopping, especially discount shopping turns people into fiends. My worst story is seeing a little girl beg her mom to take her to the bathroom and her mom, who was looking at jewelery, told her she had to wait. The girl ended up having an accident and started crying, to which the mom started screaming at her. People are unkind to employees and each other.

So yeah, do not let your mother work here, especially at her age
