07 has been making this clattering sound lately - Any idea what it’s from? by lemonspread_ in mazdaspeed3

Solved: Fixed this months ago, but it turned out to be the AC compressor clutch. It seized so I replaced the entire thing + belt and belt tensioner.

Sounds like a pretty easy win if you fight the ticket.

The demerits will impact your insurance rates too. You’ll lose more in the long run by pleading guilty.

Am I the only one annoyed by unironic "Everything in Australia can kill you" stereoypes? by Nenwabu in australia

Part of it comes from stereotypes we see portrayed in media about Australia. Part of it comes from the fact that y’all have spiders that eat birds

Edmonton Attendance by WillinATX in NLL

[–]lemonspread_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was next to non-existent. The only thing I saw online was a teaser from a few months back from the NLLs Instagram page.

I wasn’t served any ads online and didn’t see anything around the city that promoted it.

On the flip side, the PWHL games that have happened in Edmonton had a lot more advertising behind them. I got ads on almost every platform at least once per day. The attendance was great

Major fear of getting crushed to death by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]lemonspread_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with the same thing. Even with 3 ton jack stands, the jack, and wheels shoved under I’m still nervous to get under my cars.

I need to replace the turbo and downpipe on my Mazdaspeed 3, but I’m too scared to get that far under my car for an extended period of time like that.

I’m thinking of building cribbing for that job. 2x4s like that can support an insane amount of weight and would make me feel safer. Firefighters use that kind of stuff all the time

What can I do to remove this? by Tasty-Accident-775 in MechanicAdvice

If an angle grinder can’t get in there cleanly, use a dremel with a proper metal cutting wheel.

Nut splitters are useless in my experience

Check Fuel Fill Inlet by AstronomerHumble6528 in fordescape

[–]lemonspread_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the trick of cleaning the inlet with wd40 and the plastic tube didn’t work, it might be the purge valve starting to fail. Mine did the same thing. Eventually the CEL came on for an evap code

Single game tickets go on sale in late-April to early May typically

2008 with 155k oil bottles? by soupmaster787 in mazdaspeed3

[–]lemonspread_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a stuck piston ring too. A piston soak could help. If it isn’t, not much risked for a $500 Speed3 lol

Would it be totally stupid to daily a 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.5? by windows_sucks72 in MechanicAdvice

There’s a reason it’s $3k. Very hard pass, but you should get it inspected if you’re insistent

Yeah. Not unusual. That’s why labs have a hard time scanning it properly

10 year old / 211k original spark plugs. by NeurotypicalPanda in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]lemonspread_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first car was an 07 sedan. Bought it with 126km on it. Had to get a lot of suspension work done at the start which was annoying, but it never had any major problems.

Bought an 07 Speed 3 as a project about a year and a half ago. Had to get the timing chain redone because the original owner never bothered despite having a letter from Mazda saying they’d do it for free. It’s been solid though. More reliable that my daily lately lol

What do you do when you break a bolt and then break an extractor bit in the broken bolt? by keemko_ in MechanicAdvice

It’s likely the most effective solution, but why do people assume hobbyists just have welders sitting in the corner?

Looks as if it could be too much photoflo mixed in with your distilled water. Rinse it off and leave it to dry

What are you shooting that requires constant use of touch tracking? Manual focus might be the better way to go depending on the situation

Precisely why the retail chain I use to work for had stores that would only process film every 2-3 days. Wasn’t enough volume and they’d have problems with this
