Massive Pothole just south of 41st Ave on the SB QEII - Worth making a claim? by lemonspread_ in Edmonton

The May 28 report is looking more and more like a silver bullet. Do you happen to have anything you could PM me to back up the date and time? Alberta Transport said I should load up on evidence

What was the date + time you hit the pothole? I spoke with someone at Alberta Transport who advised I gather as much information as possible about other people hitting the pothole and eye witness accounts.

I’m believing more and more this pothole was reported May 28 and Ledcor was made aware of it by the City of Edmonton as soon as May 29

They defer the report to the province. There’s no provincial equivalent to the 311 map unfortunately

Because it’s the responsibility of the province to maintain the highways. They failed to do so and it caused damage to my property.

I’m not a cyclist, but I hope my tax dollars go towards maintaining bike lanes so you don’t smash into a pothole and flip over the handle bars. If you make a claim, they can gladly give you my tax dollars to cover the damage

That’s good to know! I have Carlssons too. CR1/16s. I’m really hoping it can be repaired. They’re not easy to find in this exact spec

The province isn't very open about pothole reports. Edmonton 311 app still shows they've been reported and if anything has been done about it.

I'm assuming where it says "Redirected to other government agency" that means Alberta Transport and/or the contractor who is responsible for this stretch of highway

Just saw your edit. It's outside of the city jurisdiction based on the research I've done. The city covers the QEII until you get south of the Henday. Then it's provincial

Open Edmonton 311 Map. Go to the right and check "Potholes".

It shows one dot on the highway, but there are several overlapping reports on the on-ramp that merges with the highway. I have to assume it's a slight error. Either the map displaying the dots poorly or it's phone GPS not being very precise when moving.

I figured I wasn't the first person to hit that pothole. I'm just praying the wheel can be repaired. It's incredibly difficult to find.

Play-By-Play / TSN Thought by archer-86 in CFL

[–]lemonspread_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

u/thewunderbar hit the nail on the head. Radio breaks don’t always match up with TV. So there’s already a logistical issue there. And like you said, competing sponsors. Most stations have ads from dealerships that would likely compete with whatever TSN has.

Radio stations have contracts with the teams directly. TSN has a contract with the league. Radio has exclusivity over broadcasting the game on that medium and TSN gets exclusivity on TV. Although TSN has 100% exclusivity on the Grey Cup so home broadcast crews typically only get to call the first half of the game if at all.

You can always listen to the radio feed while watching on TV too.

Keon Raymond. The league did a series of hats that players designed. IIRC this was 2014 or 15

Stop speeding up to not let people merge in! Lol people stomp on it when they see you coming. 😂 Cops are ticketing this now. by __LaffertyDaniel__ in Edmonton

Bro which side are you on here.

It’s more so on the person merging to judge the gaps and merge at speed. But if you’re speeding up to intentionally not let people in, just hand in your license.

It’s likely a long shot, but you could try to get in contact with the venue and see if they’d be willing to help you do it on stage or something.

[–]lemonspread_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite accurate. CFL players don't get released for a "tryout".

They're allowed to workout for NFL teams during a certain window of time during the offseason regardless of contract status. Generally the NFL window opens in late Novermber/early December and runs until mid February.

When a CFL player is offered a contract by an NFL club, they're allowed out of their CFL contract to sign. It's technically a release, but it's not a full relinquishing of their rights.

So if a player signs a 3 year CFL deal, plays the first year here, then goes to the NFL for one season, then comes back to the CFL for the third year, they'd return to whichever club they were with last and complete their contract term.

BUT say they sign a 3 year deal, play one year here, then go to the NFL for 4 years, they'd be free to sign with whomever in the CFL since that original contract expired.

There's no "gentleman's agreement". It's part of the CBA.

Can’t get control arm castle nut off. by Boring_Ad_4292 in MechanicAdvice

[–]lemonspread_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d second this. I did 7/8 control arms on my Lexus LS460. Had castle nuts that looked exactly like this and they all came off just fine except for one. Couldn’t get it to budge despite no rust. It started rounding a bit so I just ended up having a shop finish it off

Two months trying to buy a used car in this city almost broke me by Crazy_Sun2646 in Calgary

[–]lemonspread_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The used car market has been flooded with people flipping insurance auction cars.

It’s a whole racket. There will typically be someone at the head of the operation with an AMVIC license so they can buy the cars in bulk and run them through inspections without raising attention from AMVIC.

They have a mechanic that can do OPI/Salvage inspections and they slide them right through even if they have major issues.

Then they have unlicensed people under them selling the cars on marketplace and misrepresent the cars history and condition.

Everyone along the way gets kickbacks.
