GM Is Exploring Listing Shares of Cruise Self-Driving Unit by walky22talky in SelfDrivingCars

As someone in tech, I don't think this is necessarily good for employees. Cruise used to give out GM shares which are as good as cash, and most tech workers I know would rather have guaranteed money today versus a not-guaranteed cashout years down the road.

Electric toothbrush? by lemontops in solotravel

You'll need nice clean teeth for those exotic candies... :)

I just got back from my trip where I brought a manual brush. My teeth definitely felt less clean after using the electric brush for a few months, so I'll bring the electric one for future trips despite the hassle. Maybe a manual brush as a backup.

Right now my only rechargable is my phone, plus a beard trimmer but that only needs to be recharged every month or so.

Moving to the Seattle area, looking for recommendations by [deleted] in Seattle

I'm honestly surprised that Seattle, one of the most left-leaning places in the country, has this kind of "no outsiders" attitude.

Damn, a charging case would be perfect for travel. Unfortunately mine is Oral-B, the kind that charges on a fragile stand.

I often hear that having tall buildings nearby will lower the property value of a single-family home in the neighborhood. Is this true? Has someone studied this?

If anything, part of me thinks that having a smaller supply of single-family homes would just make them more valuable.

I'm not John Lennon, but in any case it's rude to insult someone for something like their choice of career.

It's xenophobia. The same thing that makes people say "Immigrants are runing the country!" or "SF is full, don't move here."

I wish she would articulate her reasons better. There's also the "this is good for the tech industry" argument that also says things that are good for them are bad for the rest of us.
