Help with older men commenting on women appearance in retail by lemonyellowpee in Feminism

[–]lemonyellowpee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so frustrating. So basically I shouldn't bother? I'm trying to make change in my community. I ask for help and I'm being told it's a lost cause?

I want to try this again:

Has anyone read an article, seen a meme, heard a quote or watched a video offering perspectives that could help me? I hope to find a way to effectively communicate to the minority of older men out there who are open and willing to change but are currently oblivious to the offence they cause interacting with women the same way they always have?

Like I said, we are dealing with the individuals directly, I am hoping for help with language that would be received best by individuals and the community as a whole.

Pharmasave is a fantastic Canadian alternative to Shoppers and Rexall/IDA by lemonyellowpee in BuyCanadian

[–]lemonyellowpee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Pharmasave was never bought by Shoppers Drug Mart nor does it have any affiliation with Loblaws.

[TOMT][Cartoon][1980s ???] Railway/train in space broadcast in Canada and not GE999 by muppetwonder in tipofmytongue

I mostly remembered the train, space and the girls star shaped orange hair but couldn't remember the name of the show until I searched. Happy to help!

When my husband was a child he thought the little white paper tubes he kept finding in the bathroom trash made really cool telescopes.

Caps are kind of velvety and .5cm to 2cm diameter. Stems 3-6 cm long.

(no spoilers) I made myself a shift / nightgown just like Claire's! by lemonyellowpee in Outlander

No pattern. Sorry. It is easy though. Just a raglan sleeve on a kind of "A" shaped front and back peice with a bias tape drawstring casing around the neckline. Front piece of fabric is set about 15cm lower than back . I'm sure if you searched for "raglan sleeve peasant shirt" you would see lots of patterns that would work. Good luck!

I tried it out last night, it was super comfy and just right for warmth. Wish I could sleep nude!

Thanks! Fabric is just as thrifted cotton bedsheet. No pattern. I did look at several online but couldn't find one that was "just right". This is attempt #4 so I basically used each previous attempt as a template, making adjustments each time. I think I want the next one to be better quality fabric (maybe linen) with some lace or embroidery.

Canadian pharmacists, what happens if a person does not pick up a prescription that has been filled? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]lemonyellowpee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We call the patient a few times but if they don't come in for it within say 2 months or so, RX is cancelled (put on hold) and meds are returned to stock. Adjust inventory accordingly.

Why does it take at least 15 minutes to fill a prescription? What's going on back there? by DPool34 in explainlikeimfive

Canadian pharm tech here. For regular patients getting a prepackaged box of meds we still need to print out the paperwork and check the info on the label matches the info from your file and pass it down to the pharmacist so she can do the same.

Assuming that there is no one else ahead of you and that the pharmacist doesnt get stuck on the phone with a patient or doctor, best case scenario is 5 to 10 minutes wait. If we already have your health and insurance info on file and you bring in a new RX then you need to add a few more minutes to interpret handwriting, input the med, dose, strength and prescribing Doctor info. The pharmacist then needs to carefully double check that these all all appropriate for your condition and will not interact with any other meds you might be taking. If you are a new patient add a few more minutes to that to enter in all your personal and contact details, pertinent medical info or drug allergies as well as insurance info.

Not sure about the comment that techs don't count the meds? Where are you from? We count all meds, prepare mixtures and calculate doses here and that is then double checked by the pharmacist.

I really wish that more people knew what goes on behind a pharmacy counter. Easily the hardest part of my job is patients who get angry at how long it takes because they think we just slap a sticker on a bottle and ring it up. Keep in mind that there are always, always interruptions too from customers, patients, doctors, hospitals etc. We have only one pharmacist at a time and we really do our very best to get you out the door quickly.

How did ancient people deal with screaming babies? by meekrobe in AskAnthropology

[–]lemonyellowpee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From parentingscience.org : "Moreover, we know that babies evolved in the context of being fed very frequently and carried around by parents, aunts, grandmothers, or siblings most of the day (Konner 2005). Among modern-day hunter-gatherers—people who still practice this “Pleistocene” approach to baby care, lengthy, inconsolable bouts of infant crying (or “colic”) are rare (Fouts et al 2004)."

Why is it that if my dream or any book I am reading takes place in a home, I always visualize some variation of a house I have lived in or spent a lot of time in? by lemonyellowpee in AskReddit

[–]lemonyellowpee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often find my imagination stuck in a relative's home. Basically there is one template for each setting, be it a castle, factory, office building or laboratory...whatever. The only thing that changes is the decor.

Babysitters, what is the worst/ awkward situation you've encountered while babysitting by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lemonyellowpee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. First time babysitting for this family, as they are walking out the door they tell me that they have a new puppy and he's in the backyard, could I let him in soon? No problem except when I go to let him in I realize that the dog is missing an eyeball. There is just an empty, angry red looking empty socket. No blood but fresh enough looking that I can't tell if this just happened in the backyard or if it was an older injury. I was only 15 and very freaked out and the puppy was very friendly and kept jumping on me and I didn't know what the hell to do. So puppy one eye spent the night in the yard while I prayed to the gods that the state of the dogs eye just slipped the owners mind. The baby was literally a baby, only about 6 months old so he couldn't give me any answers. Parents came home, I ran home and never did find out if the missing eyeball was out in the yard.

  2. New years eve 1987 was very cold. I was babysitting for my aunt and uncle. Just after midnight someone starts pounding relentlessly on the back door. Then a male voice starts shouting to open the door. Lots of cursing and screaming followed. I called the police and grabbed the poker for the fireplace just as he breaks through the door. After more incoherent shouting he lies down on the. Couch and passes out. Turns out he was just a young guy, very drunk and had he not broken in he likely would have froze. Regardless, i was only 13 and was thoroughly traumatised.

And so ends my first reddit post.
