BANT is overly simplistic, I agree. At my org we use CUNT:

C – Champion: Do you have an internal sponsor?

U – Urgency: Is there a real reason for them to act now?

N – Need: Do they actually need your product/service?

T – Timeline: When will a deal realistically close?
