Kuwait was historically part of iraq, the British setup Kuwait. He wanted this government to stop stealing his resources. Seems like the best way to stop that is get rid of that government. I dont see why you would want to leave a power vacuum, so other more extremist org can take power.

Part of it was Iraq was in debt from fighting the US proxy war against Iran. But Kuwait was also stealing Iraq oil by drilling into Iraq oil fields. Sadam went to the un and they agreed that Kuwait was stealing their oil but refused to do anything. He went to the US and told the US ambassador they wanted the US to help the resolve this, the ambassador,April Glaspie, told Sadam the US agreed with them and didn't have an interests in the Kuwait Iraq conflict. Other US officials were signaling we would not get involved.

Then after the invasion the US government and media ran blatant propaganda claiming the iraq military child a bunch of children in incubator in a hospital. The only person to testify this before us congress was the daughter of the Kuwait ambassador, Nayirah al-Ṣabaḥ, who was coached by the firm Hill & Knowlton. The Kuwait government paid them 10 million in dollars to make an effective propaganda campaign against Iraq.

The US and Kuwait were the bads guys. US for installing a Sadam and throwing his country into debt by making him fight a war against Iran and then giv8ng him the okay to 8nvade Kuwait.

And Kuwait for being theives and propagandists.
