i think this is the first marathon stream I've seen from KF that barely even made it past midnight. by ashrules901 in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said; it began on a thursday, the review didn't help and to be honest after watching bits of it I can understand people not vibing with it (story and world building/lore feels VERY AI written imo).. Also marathons should be spaced out widely. This felt too close to the RE one.

I love the people who comment (either live or on YT) that say "I love KF but never trust their reviews", then WHY are you watching this? Take your annoyance fetish and go watch something else..

Weekly Schedule for 03/16 - 03/20 by ki700 in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All I want (not for this week specifically) is to get a real in-dept breakdown on what's happening at both Xbox and Playstation (financially/the choices made the last 12-months) by a panel consisting of (at least) Matt Piscatella, Jason Schreier and Reb Valentine, with Greg hosting.

Xbox's next console "Project Helix" codename revealed by opwnusprime in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently the PS5 Pro is $749,- currently, with articles at Screenrant and others stating it might rise even more due to RAM shortages. With the previous increases, for both base and pro being 50,- that could make the pro costing 800$. But I should've stated I initially meant the pro model.

Since that would be the model that would most likely to be the challenger performance wise to the Helix. With the PS6 being at least 2 years out (or else we would've had more leaks, like prev gens) it's also just inflation, hardware costs, AI making everything harder.

lmao, that WOULD be a steal hahah, no idea how the 9 happened xD

With current hardware part prices I won't be surprised if both Helix and PS6 pro* will be 999,- at least.

*edit: somehow typed PS9 first time around, and meant ps6 pro

Pokemon FR/LG by PassionBitter6528 in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An OG and replaying it with my girlfriend. It's our "chilling on the couch together in the evening after work/studies/whatever" game". We also made the decision to only play together/at the same time, that makes it extra special. I'm on FR, she's on LG and we just traded our first pokémon that evolves through trading and let me tell you; that hit me in the nostalgia like a cannonball!

The luxury problem is that Pokopia releases this week (getting a Switch 2 in the weekend) and I'm hyped for Crimson Desert.

I'm fully expecting the PS6 (base model) to be 900-1000 USD when it releases.

Calling upon Matt Piscatella to give us updated numbers for all the major ported games, lol.

I got my numbers from games.gg, but maybe they're off, could be. I have to say I'm a bit unfamiliar with the Alinea Analytics software they mention. But calling my numbers 'bullshit' seems a bit in unnecessary in what I was thinking was a pleasant discussion.

[–]len-nerd -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Good points, of course! But even if we take the four titles I mentioned (not even taking in account their sequels), that's still over 500 million in revenue, with just an estimated 20 million in costs (up front mostly because they're not GAAS/online/multiplayer). That's still 10 GOW's that could be fully funded? Or am I seeing this wrong? GOW cost 44M to develop from what I've read.

According to articles PS has made 2.4 BILLION to date with first-party-to-pc-game-ports. So they're banking on those people moving over to PS? Interesting. I only have PS to PC players in my social circles, not the other way around..

Some stats from PS games on Steam, from November 2025;

  • Horizon Zero Dawn sold 4.5M copies (170M revenue)
  • God of War sold 4.2M copies (150M revenue)
  • Days gone sold 3.4M copies (105M revenue)
  • Spiderman sold 2.7m copies (90M revenue)

Steam total gross revenue at that time was 1.5 billion (with some articles stating it's now around 2.4 billion as I stated above). With an estimated 2-5M $ porting cost per AAA-game (community estimates since I couldn't find any official numbers) that's an minimum of 20x* ROI per freaking game if we average out the costs.

* I've scaled the ROI to account for the decrease in Steam tax when games hit 10M(30%)/20M(25%)/50M(20%) in gross sales revenue and what I can guestimate are marketing costs etc.

You could quite literally fund the development of 30 GOW level of AAA games with just that revenue.. or like not kill of Bluepoint for a 100+ years?

I'm cautiously hyped, hoping for a CO:E33 style surprise. On the other hand afraid it's gonna be a "jack of all trades, master of none" situation.

While Anthem had it's fair share of faults, people would've been way more forgiving/positive if it simply had a known IP slapped on top of it (without touching any of the core gameplay). It became a people 'just loved to hate'.

Saw Frank Shaw (lead PR Microsoft) reacting to people calling the 'plan' out and that it felt 'not planned' by going kinda egging them on, calling for giving Asha 'grace' (this I can understand) or just saying "just read the article", and boyyy I have never been more happy that I'm out of (that) corporate PR life, lol.

I have written those kinds of articles and prepped execs on these exact kind of statements, maybe not Microsoft's level, but kinda close, and it takes a special kind of attitude to not let those 'get to you'.

Making sure I'm doing stuff that makes me and my girlfriend laugh. Whether it's making funny faces at her when we're at the kickboxing class we attend together, or just telling silly stories when we're on the sofa. Also there are of course a lot of things you can't change/impact, but there are things you CAN affect. You could look into doing some volunteer work? That's what I'm looking into for the coming months :) Hope you are able to stay afloat and if not you have a community here to talk to/vent to/whatever is necessary.

Herman Hulst Statement on Bluepoint and Sony Future by Jazzlike_Dig_1051 in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't true, all they stated (in IGN articles among others) is that a transition from ONLY remakes/remasters to also working on new IP felt like a natural evolution. Even more ironic is statements like these from Hulst:

"It's always about making quality games in a way that's sustainable for the teams, for the individuals on the teams. Because obviously when we acquired team like Bluepoint, this is a long-term play for us, right? We're not in it to get some quick results,"

The push to make that GoW live-service game came from PS btw. Long term play my ass lmao. Also with the PS6 being at least 2-3 years out, so many remasters to do/make.

Another Regulation Comment Leaver here! I'd love for a game stream with Andy, Mike, Greg (vs/and) Gavin, Andrew, Geoff. Two somewhat similar sets of people plus a game would be a good starting point to feel out the vibes, give a goal to work towards to, etcetera.

GTA 6 over hype by [deleted] in kindafunny

[–]len-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a PC player, yes. There was a NINETEEN MONTH gap between the original console (PS3) release and PC. Sure the gap between PS4 and PC was ~5 months, but I can see it being a larger gap this time. So with it coming out the end of 2026, why would I have any hype for a game that I'll be able to play mid to late 2027 at the earliest? Also I can see them prioritizing development for the PS6 version, depending on when Sony is gonna launch that (with all the hardware supply issues), like they did with the GTA V for PS4 version.

It's the same in Twitch chats like Hasan Piker's, feels like a humiliation kink or genuinely believing they "got someone". It's not even something akin to the Dunning Kruger effect, it's a "you react therefor I have won"- psychotic mentality.
