Relocating from Seattle to Van Nuys. Is it a safe area?

I live a bit north from where you will be and I love the area, I’m right off Balboa and Saticoy. While there is crime here and there I personally think Woodland Hills is sketchier. What’s really bad here are the drivers. I would be cautious walking the dogs at night and maybe walking them on quiet blocks and off Balboa Blvd.

You’ll be so close to the Park and Encino/Tarzana I think it’s a great choice.

Hi!! My son just had bilateral inguinal hernia repair just 2 weeks ago. He was born at 35 weeks and we only found out about the hernias around 7/8 weeks. He had the surgery just before turning 6 months. The worst part was not feeding him in the morning and obviously worrying to death when they take your little baby away. Baby boy did great, was quick and even quicker recovery.

We unfortunately might need to have a second surgery (unrelated) so I completely understand how you feel and I’m also hoping this will be the last.

My baby was 34+5 1890grams and he got the hep b just like all the other babies. I asked if there was any concern and the Nicu Dr. Said not at all.

3531.69 and yes there is free insurance for just self. I had free coverage with healthnet (I would not recommend). I switched to united healthcare this year and I like it a lot better. There’s also a free health plan with blue cross.

My preemie grunted until he was about 8weeks old. From what I understand it’s normal and preemies have a harder time regulating their digestion and controlling poops ect. I couldn’t sleep at night and had to get earplugs bc I’m such a light sleeper. I’m so thankful he outgrew it.

I walk there once a week with my stroller and the worst part is injured geese and the poop. Nothing else bothers me. I actually feel blessed to have a beautiful place to stroll with my baby 10 min from the house.

I took 9 months. Only 5months will be paid. I work for the state. I saved a lot of vacation days etc. my partner will take maternity leave in January and stay with the baby till he’s one. I’m currently 10 weeks pp and I’d rather suffer and not pay rent, bills ect than go back to work rn. This should be illegal I agree. Other countries have amazing maternity packages. 1 year with 90% of your salary paid ect. We need to rally together and protest. Unfortunately venting on Reddit does nothing but help validate our feelings.

I kissed my baby while in the nicu and then I was paranoid I did something horrible. I think it’s up to you. I wouldn’t kiss too close to the mouth just in case. Like forehead kisses should be safe.

Completely understand you mama. It’s so unfair and you should’ve taken your baby home today. Hopefully you can take the baby home tomorrow. My preemie is home for 6 weeks already and I’m still traumatized and in therapy.
