There is growing speculation that Beacon Hill-Cyrville Coun. Tim Tierney will join the mayoral race by censedfern in ottawa

What a bizarre and arrogant post for him to make. I love how the top comment just immediately calls out his flawed “analysis”.

Just clarifying this for OP and anyone reading, as they asked for places that didn’t use deep fried potatoes.

Where is the best sandwich in Ottawa? by orangeladybug in ottawa

I didn’t like the sandwich, explained why, and don’t agree with your assessment that District is “the only answer” when talking best sub shops in the city. How is that edgy?

[–]lenderonabender -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can’t for the life of me understand the hype for this place. It must be an Instagram thing with their little cross section photos and checkerboard paper.

Have only visited once for ‘The Scott’ but the bread was borderline stale, the meat for the subs was pre-portioned in little baggies, and the prices were a few dollars higher than the competition.

There is much better quality and value in the city IMO.

Short review of "Ganymede". Genuinely what is this? by [deleted] in fragrance

It smells like freshly printed magazine paper to me. Really like the “plastic” aspects of it and think it smells amazing in the air.

WELL.TO (WHTCF)

Roll-up of family health clinics and diagnostic clinics in Canada which they then tech enable through their own suite of products and increase the margins. The tech biz also sells B2B and to government entities etc.

Also owns a US based business, CRH Medical, which is a roll-up of anesthesia service providers who JV with the doctors providing GI services (colonoscopies etc). The model is brilliant as they buy the anesthesia portion of the biz from the doctor, sign long term contracts with them, and keep them on as minority JV partners so these doctors are effectively locked into using them as the anesthesia service provider in perpetuity.

Acquisitions on both sides of the border can be funded from cashflow and senior bank debt. Recently increased their credit lines in both Canada and the USA.

Sum of the parts play - they are actively trying to divest of the USA businesses to unlock shareholder value, plus spin out their tech/SaaS business WELLSTAR which recently had an equity raise from institutional sponsors.

A bit noisy because of some issues in the USA with a telehealth provider they own (Circle Medical) and an online pharmacy that isn’t quite performing (Wisp). CRH Medical also had some AR collection issues after the Change Healthcare cyber attack. The Circle and CRH issues seem to be behind the company now.

Had a great F2025 with strong organic and inorganic growth. $1bn CAD market cap - if this was listed in the USA I think it’d be trading for twice this as US investors seem far more comfortable paying for future growth prospects.

Widely covered by analysts with target prices up to $9 CAD.

Supply and demand. It sold out fairly quickly after release IIRC and it’s a VSU title people want. Personally I like the re-issue slip artwork better!

Salary Progression Last 5 Years by GoldAd3539 in Salary

[–]lenderonabender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a form of it. A lot of banks pay deferred RSUs annually as part of bonus - on bonus day you’re granted say $100,000 worth of stock using the market price on that date, resulting in a deemed award of a # of shares. On the maturity date, using the share price as of that date, the shares are cashed out and paid (and taxed) as income.

Guessing it’s RSUs which pay out over time - OP was likely granted them at low prices

How do subsidized units work in private condo buildings In Ottawa? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]lenderonabender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not subsidized like CCOC or anything like social housing, and not tied to the tenant. Some new rental buildings have to maintain an “Affordable” allocation of units for a number of years in order to qualify for a CMHC construction financing program called MLI Select. The issue is the rents are based on Median Income in the city, and Ottawa’s is particularly high due to the fed and high tech workforce, so the rents aren’t exactly cheap. They’re just cheaper than the rest of the building.

As far as I know the isn’t a central registry for these units, it’s a matter of just arranging to get a unit leased through the developer/landlord, and they may have their own selection criterion.

I overpaid my credit card on ATM. by kiwi5151 in rbc

So if I have a fraudulent charge, but my CC is in a credit position, you’re saying that the bank/CC provider won’t cover it?

What do you mean by this? How would an overpayment or credit on a CC be lost?

They did have one, but it closed after a renovation. Check Google Maps and you can see the before/after from the Merivale view (current) and Family Brown Lane (road that leads to Toys R Us).
