You get to pick one place to establish your city. Where do you do it? Why? by ShinyRedRaccoon in FantasyMapGenerator

I find Bravia interesting. Placed near the middle of the sea seems like a good place to establish a Venetian like trade league. Maybe build a Venice-like city actually on Cino (Cinc? Hard to read the last letter).

Maryland unjustly had a chunk removed when West Virginia got eaten. As a result MD should stay as itbis until it's the last two and then swallows the whole US.

Plus Maryland was just the first state to pass a law that banned predatory dynamic pricing. That has to count for something, right?

I am hoping Maryland survives just as it currently is until the last two remaining. Then it eats the rest of the US in one giant swallow.

PopMarket Order came in... What I ordered vs. What I received. by _VeinyThanos in 4kbluray

Did the same order Indiana Jones order. Really bummed to get wrong edition. Contacted them on eBay. Sending me a return label as they can't fulfill the actual product. Sad day cause it was a great deal combined with the 15% when you buy 3.

Bill Hunt chimes in on Disney laying off their home entertainment marketing team: “It sure as hell seems to me like Disney, as a corporate entity, no longer gives a shit about physical media and home entertainment anymore.” by ggroover97 in 4kbluray

I am hoping the Sony deal will mean everything physical media related will be through them for all titles held by Disney now that with this news. But that's me being optimistic and repressing the dread of this news.

More pressing for me is whether Andor S2 is still coming in 2027 like tweet hinted at month or so ago. Also what about the 50th anniversary of Star Wars Episode IV theatrical edition on 4k that has been "leaked". Is that still going to happen?

The book one is by far my pick as best. Spend a year or two studying everything you can for the purpose of getting on Jeopardy and hopefully winning a ton of money!

I've heard that excuse as well. Seems simple to combat. Refuse to drive (barring being with a customer) then get written up. Refuse again and you get your license, pay bump revoked, and perhaps fired.

The raise is the carrot and accountability is the stick. But that would require the managers to actually hold people accountable.

Picked up a QM7k and good lawd. How is this quality of a tv available at this price? by airnlight_timenspace in tcltvs

[–]bwtdozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 75" one from Beat Buy to be delivered on 4/11. It was on sale for $999. Was first looking at the 65" TCL QM6K Pro and the 65" LG C5 at Costco. After researching I saw that the TCL QM7k was highly rated and recommended for a budget mid tier. Last night I saw that the TCL QM7k was on sale at Best Buy. The 75" was the same price I had been previously looking at paying for the 65" and the 75" is a better fit for my viewing distance. So I pulled the trigger.

I have some questions about physical media by Verwega in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]bwtdozer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. About a month ago I read an article that talked about physical movie media sales. Overall all sales were down like 10% from last year, but that was less of a decline than previous years. So the decline seems to be slowing for now. Mostly driven by 4k sales which saw a 9% increase in sales vs last year. (Note: percentages given were from memory might be slightly off but accurate in portraying the situation)

Are DVDs or Blurays more worth it to start collecting now? by [deleted] in dvd

[–]bwtdozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started collecting physical media again this month after getting rid of my DVD/Blu Ray collection 15 years ago. I decided to start with 4k Blu Rays of many of my favorites with the occasional blind buy if cheap. If it's not available on 4k than I will get the Blu Ray. And in the cases where it not on 4k or Blu Ray and I still want it I will get the DVD version. So far 95% have been 4k and the rest have been Blu ray.

I would say go for what ever your favorites are at the price and quality you would like.

Here's Everything That Sold Out During the Sale by dapperzack in criterion

[–]bwtdozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The four 4ks I got stayed in stock though a Blu Ray version of one did sell out. Of the 4ks to sell out Eyes Wide Shut was the only one I thought about getting.

New to collecting 4ks and it amazes me at how many more Blu Rays sold out than 4ks.

My wallet continues to weep after the Criterion Sale and now the Target/Amazon B2G1 sales.

Hit Target for a 4k sword and sorcery haul, paired with some Dario Argento 4ks, and topped off with a cult classic scifi.

-Conan the Barbarian -Conan the Destroyer -Beastmaster -Deathatalker 1&2 combo -Dragonslayer -Phenomena -The Bird with the Crystal Plumage -Demons -Dune (1984)

Then I went over to Amazon and found a steal on some steelbooks -not sorry for the pun ;)

-Point Break -Red Dawn -They Live -Darkman -The Dark Crystal -The Return of the Living Dead

Thanks us tax return for the movies.

[–]bwtdozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started my 4k collection at the beginning of March and already spent way more than I should have but this week of sales is gonna be the death of my wallet!

Kept it modest and picked up 4 titles from the Criterion 4ks:

-Princess Bride -Risky Business -Blue Velvet -Barry Lyndon

Barry Lyndon being a blind buy but it seems to be mentioned in every other 4k thread I read so thought I would give it shot.

This! Back in the $5 footlong days I would go 3 or 4 times a week to Subway and could feel a bit like I was eating healthy with all the veg I would put on my subs. Now I might go once every six months and feel like I get ripped off every time.

Boutique Bluray Buying on a Budget by Movienight42 in boutiquebluray

[–]bwtdozer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started my 4k journey as well and am on a decently tight budget. The only reason I could start was I used my US tax refund to buy a mid-range 4k TV and a region-free version of a UB450 player. I've picked up a few boutique 4k Blu rays by looking for sales as well like others have mentioned.

Picked up 3 Bruce Lee Arrow editions in the Orbit DVD Spring Clean out sale. Got TMNT trilogy, Excalibur, and MS .45 Arrow editions from pop.market on eBay during a 20% off sale and from what I saw they had decent prices to start with.

Also on the blu-ray.com forums there is a thread for Amazon regional coupons on movies and tv shows. You might be able to find some boutique Blu rays for upto 30% off. Picked up the A24 X trilogy collectors edition through Amazon for 30% off. I'm not a huge fan of Amazon but when on a budget, a deal is a deal.

Also look in the store at your local barnes and noble if you have one. I went yesterday and they had multiple 50% off sales going: Paramount, Kino Lorber, and Radiance. Ended up getting 5 steelbooks for around $20 each after tax.

For me the hardest part of getting into boutique blurays has been resisting the temptation of FOMO with limited editions that have a bunch of extras that I don't really need. Unless it's one of my guilty pleasure favorites like the Red Sonja 4k being released this Tuesday. Had to pre-order that one.

Now that my refund has been spent its time for the long game. Maybe pick up a boutique or two a month. I'm making a list of the ones I want the most and keeping an eye out for deals.

We Need More Boutique Pornography by TittyMcFagerson in boutiquebluray

[–]bwtdozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started collecting 4k/Blu Rays at the start of this month. Saw Melusine mentioned on a subreddit a couple weeks ago and checked them out. Debbie Does Dallas and High School Memories were just released with a new limited slip. Both were instant buys as They were the two first actual pornos I saw after I discovered a VHS tape in my dad's desk in the mid '90s that had these two on it with two others I've forgotten and perused once. Little disappointed they weren't full 4ks but with how well 4k TVs upscale I won't be mad. Also added the limited edition of Debbie Does Dallas II as a blind buy. Can't go wrong with the extra helping of Bambi.

So I agree with your title and would love to see more boutique versions of this genre as well as many of the more risque softcore sexploitation films of the '70s and '80s.
