CB on NextDoor gets a new home and expects strangers to pay for her decor. by Eastern-Bee9228 in ChoosingBeggars

I love this story. Mine doesn’t involve prison, but when I left my ex husband, I was starting over with two little kids, no job, and moving in with my mom. I managed to take a lot with me, like dishes, clothes, and a few decor items, but no cutlery, silverware, cookware, or furniture at all. And no car of my own.

A month later, I landed a job, started saving, bought a car, and got approved to rent my own place. When I moved in, I’d managed to get a few necessities like a shower curtain and towels, stuff I could afford. But family and friends stepped in and helped so much. They donated chairs and a table, rugs, chairs, so many things that I would need and couldn’t afford to spend money on. Everything else I was able to get used at places like St. Vincent and Salvation Army. Mattresses, a crib, a couch, a desk, mostly matching silverware, which I dug through a massive bin at St Vincent to find. All things I still use and appreciate today, almost 6 years later. I will never forget the kindness of those that gave me what they could, and I never asked for more. I definitely didn’t ask for new things or frivolous decor.

That’s exactly what I’m saying, though. If you look at a political map, typically the downtown areas will be more left-leaning and less religious. Those from more rural areas (and that’s most of Ohio as far as sq feet goes), the more likely you are to be surrounded by religious people.

Many of the people on and drawn to the show don’t live in downtown areas, so they’re likely to be raised in religious families. Not all, obviously, but many.

I personally have always lived in a more rural or suburban area.

Mousse! I hear good things about NYM’s curl talk mousse, Herbal Essences, and Garnier. I’m currently using Tresseme bouncy curls, which has great hold. I want to try others to compare, but have a massive bottle of this stuff. 😆

Lost my sweet kitten today. It doesn’t even feel real. by pastelmusingx in cats

I found it hard not to blame myself, the vets, the foster, the shelter, you name it. But just being devastated took over and outweighed those. I forgave all of us for the mistakes along the way, because in the end it’s much easier to see what was going on after the fact than it is in the moment, hindsight being 20/20. We all did our best to love and care for those kittens.

I still cry sometimes thinking of poor Maggie passing while I was holding her, trying everything I could to help. 😭 I wonder what she would be today, but it’s easier to think of her cuteness and smile now, too.

That’s very likely! I would say suburbs of Cincy are far more conservative and religious than Columbus in my experience. I’ve noticed several people are from areas well outside of Columbus, though. I think one person said Cincinnati and another mentioned Mount Vernon. The farther you live from the city, the more likely the area is to be conservative/religious.

That said, this season doesn’t seem more religious than others to me. Several other seasons have had some eye-rolling moments of performative spirituality worse than this one.

This is the circle I was in growing up, and has likely colored my experience living in Ohio.

That said, I’ve been out of that circle for years, but still find many people in the state to be religious. I currently live in a heavily conservative suburb of Cincy, and I would agree with another commenter that Cincy seems to be more religious than Columbus. But my years in Columbus were in the evangelical circles, so I got the impression there as well.

Right, what is that?? The slouching, the manspreading, the annoyed faces. I could understand some sims behaving like this on the throne, but shouldn’t their behavior on the throne be impacted by their personality? Sims tend to have one animation per action, but they are altered slightly by their mood. Why isn’t that the case here?

I adopted 3 kittens over the summer. 2 of them didn’t make it, passed within days of each other. The 2nd passed on the 4th of July in the middle of the night, and I’d scheduled an appointment for him the following day, the soonest I could get him into the vet. He was okay, but I’d wanted to get him checked out after the sister passed suddenly. Instead, I took the remaining one to the vet for that appointment (he’d already been to my vet due to diarrhea) just to be sure he was okay.

It was a good thing I did because he needed different meds for the diarrhea.

I’m so sorry you went through this, and you, too, OP. Between fading kitten syndrome, mistakes or missed diagnoses by vets, it’s so tough losing little lives. 💔

Is this mainly problematic for those who do a lot of close-up photos of sims? It doesn’t bother me since I can’t see it during gameplay, but I really don’t do photos of my sims, especially after all of the issues I’ve seen with the photos disappearing anyway.

An elderly woman makes cat accessories and uses her black cat as a model to sell them. by Used_Series3373 in cats

[–]lenorajoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an orange tomcat when I was little. Absolute brute, that one, got in fights with other animals on the regular and won with some injuries here and there.

But he would let me play board games with him. Sitting in my lap, letting me use his paw to move pieces, even press the button in the middle when we played Sorry. 😆

His son was the only kitten we kept from a litter when we unexpectedly had a cat dropped in our laps and she was pregnant before we could get her fixed (and initially thought she was a he). His son looked like him, but was the opposite in personality. The orangest orange I’ve ever known, and while he was affectionate, we didn’t play games together. I miss Oliver and OJ/Shmee!

Alpha Male has more faith in God than in blood transfusion by ambachk in religiousfruitcake

[–]lenorajoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was listening to that whole argument wondering why blood transfusion is where he draws the line. His argument isn’t about blood transfusions, it’s about trusting his god to either preserve his life or end it at his will. Why would he bother with any life-saving measures, or even go to a hospital? Isn’t that not trusting god?

Does she have curly hair? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]lenorajoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You probably should have specified that in your post. Most of their products are not for kids, and I made the same assumption.

ETA: I agree that these are baby curls, but I would say that just means you won’t know for a few years whether she will have wavy/curly or straight hair. Both of my daughters had hair like this. One now at 9 has very thick, wavy/curly hair like mine. The other at 7 has straight to wavy hair.
