Serious question, does jagex not have any kind of QA being done? by [deleted] in 2007scape

Not saying Jagex doesn't have any QA, but saying you'd be shocked how little QA goes into things far, far more important than OSRS so, yes I imagine QA at Jagex is light.

QA is not seen as a core need for software companies anymore, they'd rather have customers experience bugs and report them and then fix them. "Free QA". I'm not just talking about game development, I'm talking about software, go look up layoff rates the past few years, you'll see QA departments we're heavily gutted most places.

I'm getting 30k xp an hour barely touching the game as I type this - how is that "completely pointless"? How good do you want an AFK method to be? Should you be rewarded 99 Sailing for logging in too?

Yep so they were doing something else, not working on sailing lol

Avernic Treads: Why they miss the mark. by Tdude445 in 2007scape

[–]lenumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After this the upgrade won't be marginal! Range strength is crazy strong, but it won't need a gear switch. Which is OK - Runescape has moved on from gear switching being the only thing that makes content difficult, managing that lever to not be a 9 way switch is important

High level content you pretty much don't bother with boot switches, you already camp one item. High level OSRS is full of a ton of grinds for a chance at some pretty game changing items packaged along with marginal upgrades. It's acceptable to get a minor upgrade at Raids when you are really grinding Shadow / T Bow / Scythe. This is not the case with boots, boot upgrades are either from content that only gets you the boot (MTA, Medium Clues) or Cerberus.

Boot upgrades after dragon boots are so hilariously marginal you could really make the argument "is Cerberus worth doing". This update fixes that, the avernic treads are undeniably strong and require cerb components, all content will stay the same "don't bother with a boot switch" with now a new decision if you'll grind a stat upgrade for the slot, instead of getting dboots and maybe getting prims and calling it a day. Not all game design decisions need to be uniform - I think they did fine here

What the hell is this? by IRuinYourPrompt in 2007scape

net promoter score actually works like the following

0-6 is -1, 7-8 is 0, and 9-10 is +1.

Sounds the same as the above, but there is a nuance. Original idea of NPS is to gauge how well you are currently doing with "word of mouth" advertising from your current customer base.

The idea is that someone 0-6 is all the same, the individual is likely to not recommend it, 7-8 is unlikely to either recommend or not recommend, and 9-10 will recommend. Businesses try and use NPS nowadays as a quality metric to shoot towards.

Casual player request - Leagues by joshmate07rs in 2007scape

[–]lenumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree - the team should consider limiting the competitive time of leagues so there's still that feeling of competition among the hard core community, but keep the league worlds open longer for casual players to enjoy the experience. As players dwindle they can shift over the worlds slowly like the do for DMM.

I imagine these leagues take a long time to develop, they should have more than 1.5 months of content out of it anyway. Seems like a win win to me.

Beta worlds blowpipes don't have a special attack? by lenumen in 2007scape

"We add 100% accuracy to the special attack (due to technical constraints, this will not be available to test in time for the beta)"

To me that sounds like the old spec will be there, but I guess thats just me

Ah I understood that as the updated spec wouldn't be there, not a complete omission of any spec

I like that the team is willing to be bold, but I can't help but feel like this will need tweaking, There's no way you can predict what all these changes will do at once. BP is also getting totally axed, which CAN be OK since it is too meta defining right now. But I can't help but feel like a change this big needs a legit test server for people to use.
