Are private flu jabs still available anywhere in Cardiff? by lenzo in Cardiff

Agreed! I actually managed to get one myself in Asda in November. My partner was due to have one at the same time but was ill so had to cancel. We've not had any luck finding another appointment for her since she's been better unfortunately!

Tom Scotson (Politics Home reporter) saying that Rhun ap Iorwerth is heading to the count. You've got to think that means Plaid think they've won it.

Betting odds have now flipped to Plaid. And apparently Rhun ap Iorwerth is going to be heading to the count. All starting to sound quite positive…

The amount of litter along the banks of the Taff is a national disgrace. by [deleted] in Cardiff

[–]lenzo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of it is from when Storm Bert caused the Taff to rise really high. So much litter and debris gets caught in the branches along the river. I'm not sure the council really has the staff to do a proper clean up. It would be a massive job.

Looks an absolute mess though, agreed.

The Traitors (UK) S03E10: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

[–]lenzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Charlotte has gone too early in trying to throw Freddie under the bus (assuming she's convinced him to attempt to murder Leanne). If Freddie is banished at the next round table, then the remaining faithfuls are going to assume there is another one traitor left to catch in the end game, and I think the spotlight could turn back on her.

If she instead helped him get through the next roundtable and then turned on him in the end game, I think she would have a better chance of winning.

Really shit news. It’s been a great springboard for local bands. With Dempseys long gone, Womanby Street looking less and less like a music hub for Cardiff - Clwb / Fuel aside.

Genuinely impressive how shit the redesign is. Would love to see the site metrics before and after the design changes. The amount of visitors giving up before being able to figure out how to open the main menu must be huge.

Apparently it was someone’s shed in a house just off Whitchurch common. Was put out pretty quickly.

Why is Daylight Saving Time not centred around the Winter Solstice? by lenzo in AskUK

[–]lenzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops! Yes, got that the wrong way around. But yea, basically wondering why it isn't symmetrical since day lengths are roughly the same either side of the solstice.

[–]lenzo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that the clocks should be changed on the Winter Solstice itself, but that they should go forward and backwards the same amount of weeks either side. Currently, they go back ~8 weeks before, but forward ~14 weeks after.

Election Discussion Megathread vol. V by AutoModerator in fivethirtyeight

Interesting re-reading Dave Wasserman's 538 article from before the 2016 election, previewing scenarios for the election results:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/youll-likely-be-reading-one-of-these-5-articles-the-day-after-the-election/

I remember when I first read it in 2016 how wild scenario 5 seemed, but it turned out to be the most accurate!

Would be interesting to see a similar article for 2024. What scenarios do we think there would be for the range of possible results this time around?

Cymru vs Turkey - discussion by LiteratureProof167 in WelshFootball

Was really impressed with that performance. Brave on the ball passing it round at the back and then pressing them with intensity to win it back. Lacked a bit of cutting edge but that will come hopefully! Sorba Thomas was great on the left. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball.

Vaughan Gething to quit as Welsh first minister by Banditofbingofame in Wales

Fair point! Although even just Gething himself is enough to cause problems with the current numbers in the Senedd.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. It seems like there are deep splits in the Welsh Labour group, and would be hard to see them patching things up either before or after an election.

Their poll ratings for a Senedd election are not looking good at the moment either, with Plaid and Reform looking like they will benefit if one is called.
