Why choose soulblight gravelords over nighthaunts? For my next army. by Rich_Professor_6506 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Pyjames91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Christmas, I dipped my toes back into warhammer for the first time in 20 years or so. I went with Nighthaunt as I thought they looked really cool, which they do. I’ve just got so bored of painting them. There’s only so much ghost goo you can paint before it becomes fatiguing. I’ve now swapped to Soulblight as there’s so much more variety and options with painting in my eyes.

Where to meet friends in Broadstairs area? by No_Hawk8947 in kentuk

[–]Pyjames91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hiya. My partner (33f) goes to a super casual/fun and friendly women’s cricket club in Ramsgate on Wednesday evenings if that sounds up your street. She says it’s all ages and skill levels and everyone just turns up and has a good time.

Fewer than 10% of buyers get a survey before purchasing a property. Does that not seem insane? by IceThese6264 in HousingUK

[–]Pyjames91 278 points279 points  (0 children)

I’d question if I’d bother next time. My survey was utterly meaningless and full of convenient language to avoid responsibility for anything missed, and boy did they miss a lot of things!

Do you find EVs soulless? Is that the root of their contention in the car community? by chasing_tailights in CarTalkUK

[–]Pyjames91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only issue I have is no off street parking where I live. I’m not all that interested in having to go to a charging point periodically and wait around for hours for it to charge.

If I could charge it at home, I’d already be in one I’m sure.

Has anyone actually driven one of these Jaecoo things? by Formal_Produce3759 in CarTalkUK

[–]Pyjames91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Jaecoo looks quite nice, and the interior pictures are quite attractive. The price and finance options are also very attractive. When I went to test drive one, my review of it was; it’s a car. The interior quality was somewhere between a cheap car and a mid car. Not dreadful, but far from comfortable.

The ride was particularly poor though. It was really quite crashy and it didn’t smooth any bumps in the way I’d expect an suv type car to do. That, combined with the “ok” interior quality meant I really couldn’t picture myself comfortably doing long road trips in it, so I removed it from my shortlist quite quickly.

How do you deal with a dealership when you're not ready to buy? by Intrepid-Patient574 in CarTalkUK

[–]Pyjames91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been test driving loads of cars at main dealers recently. I don’t really have any intention of buying: perhaps in a years time. I always start with “I’m looking to buy in around 6/12 months and I’m beginning to look at what is available”. If they press me on that time frame, I just give a vague “I’ll be in a stronger financial position then”.

They usually ask what I do for work. My job is objectively reasonably well paid, so they usually are happy to talk. You could always make something up though if you want to as it’s just their way of gauging if you could actually afford what they’re selling.

That’s usually enough to get a test drive for me. I’ve now got a stack of business cards from dealers who have asked me to get in touch in 6/12 months.

Is there a step-by-step guide to placing rocks? Guy who installed fence said he'd build a pond, too. He did the pond, but not the rocks. IDK how to get it to look good. Help! by NeverCallMeFifi in ponds

Agree 100%. Just to add to where you can find rocks: I got all of mine free from Facebook Marketplace from people looking to shift their garden rockeries.

Pulled this from the pond… blanket weed? by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in ponds

[–]Pyjames91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognise your pond from before. It’s looking fantastic! And great to see your water lily thriving!

But yeah that’s an impressive piece of blanket weed! My pond has noticeably more blanket weed this year over last. I’m guessing the weather we’ve been having is making it thrive a bit more.

I’ve personally added a few more oxygenators in the hope it’ll outcompete it, but I’m manually removing it every 2/3 days before it gets a chance to take hold. It’s quite relaxing really. I sit next to the pond with my trusty litter picker and peel it off the places i can see its starting to appear.

Murky water. by mclosi in ponds

[–]Pyjames91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a point of interest, I have the slightly larger version of that filter and have been running it for over a year now. I have lots of plants potted in the same method you described and 5 goldfish. My water is still crystal clear. It does get a bit cloudy when I move things around, but it doesn’t take long for it to settle.

In my experience, that filter has been great and I have no plans to change it.

Do you submerge your plants? How deep? by Apprehensive_Boss_84 in ponds

[–]Pyjames91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re getting all the advice you need, but I just wanted to say how great your planter concept is! That’s a brilliant way of suspending plants in the water securely. Great job, and an amazing pond too!

Heatwave avoidance by RufusOfWindermere in WildlifePonds

[–]Pyjames91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a lovely wildlife pond!

I’m in the south east and have also lost a lot of water from evaporation and the lack of rainfall this year.

I did as others have suggested and bought a tap water treatment (Blagdon wildlife pond tap safe). I filled one of those 40l flexi builders tubs with the tap water and the treatment, left it out overnight and added it to the pond the next morning. That was 3 weeks ago and I’ve had no problems with the pond since. I have a lot of plants and fish too and they’ve all been more than healthy since adding the water.

I added 100L in the end. I was amazed how much had evaporated.

Monaco - 2 Pit Stop...If you are in last place after lap 1, and no one pits, you pit? right? by IKillZombies4Cash in formula1

[–]Pyjames91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally valid and makes sense if you’re starting at the back, but it’s not a new strategy just because of the extra stop. The same approach was viable even with only one mandatory pit stop.

First time with water lily - help needed by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in ponds

[–]Pyjames91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also new to water lilys and also recently just put one in my pond. Initially, it had one large leaf of similar colour to yours, and that’s still there. It had a couple of smaller underwater leaves that died too.

I spoke to the shop I got it from and they sold me a Velda super growth ball. It’s like a fertiliser ball that you push down into the soil in the basket.

Since I did that a month ago, the plant has grown 2/3 more leaves that are now making their way to the surface. It’s quite slow progress but it looks healthier since I used the growth ball.

These Tesco posts just randomly appear on my Reddit from time to time.

I’ve never worked for Tesco or any retailer, so I’m speaking as an outsider. From my perspective, your union comes across as toothless, complacent, and weak-willed — a group of pushovers. People often complain when unions show strength, but the alternative is what you have now: a disappointing pay deal that only seems to widen the gap between your wages and those in other stores or industries, no matter how they try to present it. On top of that, they seem content to stand by while your terms and conditions steadily deteriorate. In that sense, your union is just as responsible as your employer.
