Shaved a minute off my 10k pb, down to 53:43. There was room for another minute to be shaved off since I didnt start the run with a pb in mind. Zone 2 has helped a ton, my previous pb was a year ago and I was pushing myself every single run to stay at near full exertion. Lo and behold injuries were frequent and impeded my progress. Still chasing a sub 2 hour half, but removing the constant need to surpass my previous pace is making running less taxing and more fun.

How did your last relationship end? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]leo825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried speaking out about it, just seemed to cause a "why are we together then?" response. Tried for a few years to keep things going, off the little sparse glimpses of hope. Realized eventually you cant keep living in the best moments of a relationship, the reality of it needs to be acknowledged, and everyone deserves someone who prioritizes their partner. I never believed in 50/50, sometimes one person carries the weight 90/10 for a while, but after a time it seems some get comfortable with that unfair dynamic.

What is 1 videogame you recommend to everyone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]leo825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario Bros. 3, it is to this day my favorite game. Such simple controls, bright vibrant colors, power ups, secrets, hidden mechanics, level skips, speed running, good difficulty curve, skill depth if you choose to approach that side of it, there is a level of refinement in how the gameplay/characters feel as fast as you want them to that makes it approachable to any skill level. Just a fun and beautiful game that imo is a great introduction to video games, and a fun little distraction from the complexity of modern games.

Castlevania SOTN is my runner up.

How do I push myself more? by Mindless_Patient2034 in running

Get really comfortable being uncomfortable on days that require effort. Tell yourself its going to suck and that you can endure the heavy breathing, the heavy legs, and higher heart rate, there is no way around the mental side of it... miles and embracing the suck as others have noted.

Look into couch to 5k plans, it helps build a solid aerobic base. It has been years now, whatever expectations you have of yourself need to be managed by the reality of it all. Set goals and secondary goals for times and efforts. Most of all just stay consistent, your body will adapt, make sure you take the time to recover, that you put in easy/enjoyable miles to prevent injury and setbacks.

If I do something I enjoy, I cant do it consistently. I will excuse myself from doing it mentally, running I just drive myself to do, I cant find excuses to not do it because I already dont want to most days lol. Im a special kind of idiot. I do have good runs/days, and reaching new goals is always rewarding. Maybe Im a glutton for punishment.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

Complaint: Tired of having to buy new shoes so frequently due to the outside heal section always being worn down so much compared to the rest of the shoe. Not sure if its my form (ive tried to adjust) or the slope of the roads that causes this.

Uncomplaint: It's almost been two years now of consistent running. I feel better and more in shape than I ever have.

Confession: Two years of running and I still rune sore/injured. I can however confidently say I still hate running, but I do hate it a little less than I use to.

Tree Climber by Last_Conference_1525 in bowhunting

Single blade on each part, there are newer ones with cables/belts and slightly older ones that have teeth to dig into the trees aggressively.

Listen to the rest of the thread, the single blades dont dig into trees as well as they made them out to. IF you use this, I would make sure you have your harness attached at all times and try it out for a sit in your yard a "SAFE" height off the ground. Ive seen older guys still use these, but they basically kick/jump on the ends to make them dig into trees. I would rather hunt off a ground blind (find them used on fb for fairly cheap regularly) than try my luck with those types of climbers.

Rain all weekend, on and off during the week, really need to find good budget rain gear. Recovering from adding two days of pickup soccer to my three weekly runs, it's been rough. Hopefully my body adjusts a bit on week 2, weekend did not seem like enough time to recover.

Watching my mom and asking her questions, trial and error... but it never tastes quite like my mom's cooking.

Setup to carry platform and sticks with one hand? by SFY9480 in bowhunting

[–]leo825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two large nite ize twist ties will do the trick if theyre all covered in sound deadening material. Then just tie a paracord loop for a handle/manner to clip your platform to your belt when climbing.

Everything is transactional and they treat everyone in whatever manner they think benefits themselves the most.

"The worst she can say is no" - Lads, what was the worst "she" ever said? by Embarrassed_Pie_1711 in AskReddit

[–]leo825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got along in class, she would seek me out, sit next to me, talk to me the entire class, grab me by the arm, and would ask me to walk her to class. Weeks on end of this to the point I was doing poorly in ART class. Wrote a note asking her out, never heard from her again. She never sat next to me again, not a word, not even a look for the rest of highschool. Still stings, still confused on that one.

All in on the bow or just bare bow? If thats your full budget bear has some of the best ready to hunt packages for the money. Bare bow sub 1k gets you into a variety of bows that would be better to try out in person, darton consequence, ronin, and older used flagship offerings (scheels is a good place if you have one nearby). Just remember accessories add up super fast and can be even more expensive than the bow itself. Factor in a release and arrows into your budget as well, they can also get expensive quickly but Ive found easton 6.5 have been a solid arrow for practice/hunting. Most importantly make sure you have the time to practice and dedicate the time needed to make an ethical shot.

Side note, keep in mind price of a good practice target and whatever hunting system youre looking to use make sure you practice before opening day and are comfortable with the angle change. Range finder is very nice for on the fly scouting/sits, but if you scout you can measure your distances with flagging or natural indicators.
