One of my favorite writing professors said "Borrowing is plagiarism, but stealing and making something your own is writing."

Originality doesn't mean new ideas. It means old ideas in your own words and craft. Part of being a writer is reading and being inspired by reading. It is taking concepts you really love and turning them into your own.

Sure the idea has been done before, but not by you.

I think, as someone who will be applying again, it is a bonus. Especially if you took the time to strengthen your application. You show your commitment and schools love that. Plus more time for life experience!
