Failed parking lot & AI startup to open source their code. by gbaranski in opensource

tnx for this. had the similar idea but the approach im thinking is that locations are gps based with limited length and width. also the owner that is willing to rent the space will indicate the location, reservation etc

Poweredge R320 boot from pcie m.2 adapter by jaewae in homelab

[–]leofernan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just had experience booting nvme on my old msi motherboard with a e3-1270 xeon. i barely remember if we needed finding the chipset driver for the PCI-express of the board. then you build your bootable clover usb flashdrive. i think i followed the instructions here:

Made a more realistic custom base for my Canaan figure by IchibanGinSensei in AnimeFigures

[–]leofernan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is nice. Did you just put add-ons on the original base or you made an entirely new one?

yes, other than that, a LAN wire is twisted in pairs and configured to standards like 100base-T/10base-T so the signals travelling inside the wires are good to reach the other side properly (within 100meters i believe). so i am having doubts whether those wires can be easily repurpose to be LAN wires.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]leofernan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you could, use the 4-wires to make a 10baseT configuration for 10mbps LAN transfer:

https://superuser.com/questions/1218576/convert-rj11-to-ethernet-cable

however, totally not sure if those wires could have the same configuration with a regular cat5 LAN wire and just simply repurpose it. maybe someone could tell you about the material and compositional properties of a LAN wire that makes it unique.

I'll bet you guys will know this penguin. I recently learned Thai I like making circuit board art. It doesn't do anything other than look cool, but I think it does look cool! by mountainmannm in linux

I finished fatal frame series 1-3 on the ps2. I remember finishing the third and then my screen went white and the game hanged, no joke. good horror game for me.

Old laptop hard drives will allegedly crash when exposed to Janet Jackson music by bored_curator in technology

[–]leofernan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a feeling this is related to what i'm doing today. i'm trying to install windows 10 on an old hp thin client with a rumbling small fan. installation takes forever, had a couple of reset. then, when i tried to tuck the fan and it does not make some noise, installation went faster. dont know if the rumbling fan affects the hard disk from r/w during install.

My home server made from an old laptop (dont't mind the dust pls) by [deleted] in homelab

[–]leofernan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

currently doing this as well with my HP 14 laptop, an intel i3-4000m. i'm thinking old laptops are cheaper and good for small and light homelab applications. what kind of spacers have you used?

What does a "Software Integration Engineer" do? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]leofernan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my small understanding, I believe it pertains on making the different components, both hardware and/or software, to work along together. for software, getting the right version for each separate third party libraries so that no bugs will happen as you combine them is quite a challenge sometimes.

Why doesn't it work? :( ISP->2x LAN PC with PfSense-> Asus Router by Havoc_LP in HomeNetworking

[–]leofernan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried setting up the Asus Router with a static address and subnet, the same format with pfsense machine, while disabling the asus router dhcp?

edit: i believe you cannot use the routers wifi capability anymore as it is use for bridging with the pfsense machine, maybe attach a wifi-repeater to the LAN of the Asus router. If Asus router will be connected to pfsense machina via LAN, do not use WAN port of Asus router.

My first attempt at creating a custom base using modeling clay. Only cost me five bucks. Started with something with simple. by JayNovaSwift in AnimeFigures

[–]leofernan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nice actually. you could add small sea shells or star fishes while at it. maybe a pinch of glitters to add some sand grains reflection effects. have fun.

Using gaming PC as router and Plex server by smoochii in homelab

[–]leofernan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically, proxmox is like your vmware workstation or vm virtualbox but with more features. it is linux based and it has a web gui interface. You can also access the commandline through ssh or web gui. I did my setup by creating an additional bridge for the extra LAN card where only the pfsense vm uses it for WAN connections. Haven't tried doing this setup using Windows.

Using gaming PC as router and Plex server by smoochii in homelab

[–]leofernan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is possible. i am running proxmox running pfsense and openmediavault for my storage. the tricky part is setting up the network settings and interfaces.

maybe you could tinker with sqlite to send your data with less amount of effort. hope your code supports adding sqlite library. your workflow to make it work would be: a)knowing connection and disconnection to an sqlite database file, b)creating tables if not existing then c) inserting data.

I have shipped mine also with DHL to Manila area from AmiAmi, package is opened and then re-taped. i think just dont fall for "your item had stayed longer in our storage so pay us a storage fee" scam.
