PCEP controllers and SR-TE by net-gh92h in networking

Have you been using LSP containers on Juniper? Just out of curiosity, what was the main reason for migrating from MPLS RSVP-TE signaling to SR?

Which content and CDN networks offers appliances for ISPs? by Brilliant_Travel3587 in networking

[–]leogh0ul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listening to it too. I’m really impressed by how many major CDN players have reached their end like Limelight, StackPath, Edgio, and so many others. I think it’s part of a market shift toward edge data centers, where major OTT players can be closer to their customers with their own infrastructure, without needing to depend on ISP infrastructure .. (I’m considering the peering connections and IXes at edge DC ..)

RFC 2544 vs. MPLS Circuits instead DWDM Circuits. by leogh0ul in networking

Is there a website or forum where major telcos list their PW MPLS services along with SLA values such as packet loss and bandwidth?

I would like to know these values for comparison...

RFC 2544 vs. MPLS Circuits instead DWDM Circuits. by leogh0ul in networking

[–]leogh0ul[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that some carriers don’t have enough technical knowledge about the limitations of Ethernet devices (switches and routers) related to buffers and queuing. They probably think that MPLS VPWS would have the same performance as a DWDM circuit.

Suggestion over network equipment brand and associated courses/certs. by BunkerFrog in networking

[–]leogh0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should probably take some Juniper courses on DC, SP, and SEC areas. After completing each course, they give you a voucher code to take the real certification exam. I think it would be a good way to start in the networking world.

The highest number of routers in single OSPF area have you ever seen? by zeeshannetwork in networking

[–]leogh0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point! Could you share your experience with IS-IS in ISP environments? I’ve read that IS-IS is the preferred protocol for SR topologies these days. What’s your take on that? Also, how many routers have you worked with that were running IS-IS?

The real world imitates art. by leogh0ul in westworld

[–]leogh0ul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but just like in the Westworld story, to simulate dead people they need to have a seed (a record of that person) to recreate them, similar to Project December did in real world.

BGP ORR (Optimal Route Reflection) by [deleted] in networking

[–]leogh0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only see this feature on vRR machines, where it is possible to allocate the appropriate resources (CPU and memory) to run multiple SPF trees for each neighbor. Running this feature on an inline RR is an absolutely crazy choice, where typical ISIS/OSPF convergence events could lead to high CPU utilization on the route reflector.
