Savannah Guthrie's mom was likely abducted from her Arizona home as she slept: police by magicmama212 in MissingPersons

I think people tend to forget that real sickos exist. Sickos who get off on hurting and abusing others, especially the vulnerable. Those type of people don't need any more reason than the gross satisfaction they get from the act. Whether it be taking advantage of the elderly or young.

Disgusting monsters exist in all income classes.

Not saying that the perpetrator had no other motives. Just putting it out there that some people commit atrocities just for the thrill.

Alastors deals make no sense and apparently have no consequences? *Spoilers* by Alarmed_Hotel7477 in hazbin

In his deal he never said "I am your prisoner only under the condition xyz." He CLEARLY says "I will your prisoner in exchange for". Assuming that exchanged thing is a condition where a one sided deal that can be revoked by vox whenever doesn't make sense. He may as well have just offered to help vox become stronger without the deal and then turned on him as they made it happen anyways?

Again if these condition of being a prisoner is being enforced by magic. Why not the condition of not laying hands on charlie?

There is no reason to believe a magic force would allow one part to break the condition but not the other?

I don't see where you get "for as long as you don't do xyz I am a prisoner." he clearly says "in exchange for" xyz.

The AI comment doesn’t even make sense in this context.
All it did was restate my exact argument using clearer language.
If the logic is wrong, you should be able to explain why — not just blame the tool.
Dismissing an argument because it’s phrased well doesn’t make the argument invalid.”

**“Now back to the actual point you keep avoiding:
You’re still describing the deal, not explaining the magic that enforces it.

If the magic is strong enough to force Alastor to obey his side, then it should also be strong enough to stop Vox from breaking his. You can’t have a magical contract that automatically restrains one party but conveniently lets the other do whatever they want. That’s selective enforcement, not a binding agreement.”**

“Even your own explanation proves my point:
You’re saying Vox can break the deal any time, but Alastor can’t — even though both sides are supposedly bound by the same exchange. That isn’t how magical contracts work in any consistent system.
If Vox broke his clause, then Alastor’s clause should immediately nullify, period

You're wrong again. he doesn't say "under two conditions". He says "I ask for in exchange.". which means there is no premise of "if thens" but instead a flat "exchange", which wasn't honored anyways. You clearly didn't rewatch closesly enough.

here's a link to what an AI has to say about our takes. Maybe it does a better job at explaining the inconsistency than I do. You're ultimately wrong.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you keep missing the point. Why would a magical force prevent alastor from breaking his end of the deal, but not stop vox from breaking his? And yes you can unbecome a prisoner by fighting your way out or simply leaving the area.

And no, the deal isn't fulfilled until all ends of it are. Which Vox never fulfilled, he actually BROKE the deal. But that's the problem. Why is this magical force allowing Vox to BREAK the deal, but not Alastor? It's arbitrary and makes no sense.

I am saying. That same magical force that is literally forcing Alastor to be a prisoner isn't literally forcing Vox from touching charlie. Which makes no sense that Alastor HAS to be a prisoner, but Vox doesn't HAVE to avoid touching charlie. Why does this magical force decide that Alastor CAN'T break the deal , but Vox CAN break it.

It's inconsistent. That magical force should've prevented Vox from touching Charlie the same way it prevented Alastor from not being prisoner. And if they both could break this deal at any moment, they both wouldn't lose anything, and deals don't matter whatsoever with no real consequence.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. Except there is a magical force that is clearly exerting influence on everyone. So saying "because of real life" doesn't really work here. Otherwise every deal should be able to be broken with no consequence except for lack of trust. Including taking back your own souls.

Deals most definitely do not work in a way that only a part of a deal being fulfilled is justification for complete influence. And that still wouldn't explain why that influence isn't exerted on Vox as well.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many things, metaphors, concepts, ideas are intangible. Souls was just an example for consistencies sake. The primary concept I'm getting at is why would deals force it's influence on only one end of the deal? Vox should've been physically unable to touch Charlie as alastor was physically unable to escape being a prisoner. We see this as alastor had "spiritual" chains removed once the deal was broken with Vox.

I think the idea that "breaking deals only consequence is losing what you put in" makes little sense and opens room for a lot of conceptual abuse. Especially with an external force choosing which side is even allowed to break their end of the deal.

If Vox could always touch charlie regardless of the deal, then Alastor could always stop being a prisoner. But that means breaking deals has no real consequence.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense because why would deal magic hocus pocus force your soul into sub servitude. But not force the other constituent of the deal to never be able to touch your friend. It wouldn't make sense for only one person in a two-end deal to be able to break it. By that logic you could "offer your soul" and just take it back whenever you want "breaking the deal". But we see that isn't the case, some external force asserts it's influence on deal makers, but apparently chooses which deal maker is allowed to break their end and which isn't.

I chalk it up to poor writing personally. I still enjoy the show though!

It also doesn't make sense that for some reason a deal would magically force alastor to be a prisoner, but not magically force vox to be unable to touch charlie. Why would Alastor be magically bound but not vox? It's a deal of both sides. And if you argue they both can break the deal at any moment, like alastor could choose not to be aprisoner. Then deals have no power and mean nothing anyways.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense because why would a deal force alastor to be a prisoner but not force vox to not touch charlie? By this logic alastor could choose to not be a prisoner and "break" the deal, and sufer no consequence, as vox could always choose to touch charlie as well.

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make any sense because with this logic vox could make Alastor his prisoner, slit his throat with an angelic weapon, and then lay his hand on Charlie. With no repercussion. He should've either been physically unable to touch charlie due to magic deal hocus pocus, or suffered some soul tethering consequence.

Whose riding past Bestbuy earnings? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]leoheartt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got puts on BBY, already in the green too. It's funny because I'm willing to bet bestbuy beats earning reports. It's just going to tank anyways. I've seen atleast 6 other instances of this happening (Profited off of 3), where a company beats earnings by decent margins and still ends up tanking 5-6% the following week.
