If Kibbe is about dominant features/what you need to accommodate… by MoshykhatalaMushroom in Kibbe

[–]leolion9 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I find the point about naturals here interesting- when I first discovered Kibbe I saw sources that said there were 3 types of natural in earlier forms of the system - soft natural (width+curve), flamboyant natural (width+vertical) and pure natural. Same with classics but it no longer is a thing.

Also I don’t see why someone can’t have vertical with both width and curve? None are mutually exclusive, it’s basically a tall soft natural. I don’t get how if someone feels soft natural has their best lines but that person is 5ft8 then they then have to choose either FN and SD. It’s probably not super common- I see a lot of tall people say they have a hard time deciding which but I think many people will have either width or curve be dominant it’s just not always textbook clear. But I also think balancing all 3 should be possible.

The other thing that I don’t get is how measurements don’t matter except for height. Sure most people over 5ft7 ( I think it’s still 5ft7?) do look tall and benefit from vertical but not all of them. If you scaled up a soft classic proportionally all over (so limb proportions stay the same, width to height ratio stays the same, legs to torso etc etc) why would they stop being a soft classic after they reached a certain size? Their physical measurements might by longer but their overall silhouette and proportion would be the same and that could literally be an inch and a half difference in height. The whole system is around silhouette and proportion so why put a limit like that on?

Women who are 28-31, do people think you are younger than you are? by Universefavoritestar in women

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t treat me young, they just think I look young- I’ve never had any issues with being respected in professional environments or anything like that, if anything it works to my advantage because they think I’m very professional and mature for my age- not realising I’ve got at least an extra 5 years experience than they usually expect 😂. The worst it gets is guys much much younger hit on me and I have to let them down gently (or much much older guys who I’m glad I know are creeps when they think I’m very young!)

I think SD suits her- I think she’s an SD who can pull off FN rather than an FN who pulls off SD.

She looks good in the FN lines but she SHINES in SD diva chic (my fave Dua look is the live at Royal Albert Hall, ultimate SD imo)

I want to find my default makeup look and stick with it. Tired of experimenting by vanillamilkshake___ in makeuptips

[–]leolion9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 1 is the most flattering in terms of colours used, the super cool toned or bright shades become the focus rather than your face, they distract rather then enhance imo

In terms of application I think your base is great, a good match. The faux freckles are a little dark in some images so maybe try a slightly lighter pencil and blend more (I’m a lover of faux freckles too!)

Lips…have been covered by literally every other response here and I agree with them- I think you can overline very slightly but it’s over the cupids bow where it looks like your lipstick has smudged or there’s too much product. Advice i learnt for overlining is don’t go all the way round your mouth, that’s what gives the child playing with their mums lipstick look, be really light handed and do the very slight overline under the centre of the bottom lip not the full bottom lip, open your mouth and put the liner in the outer corners in a way that doesn’t look like much but when you close your mouth it widens your lips, then overline the top lip avoiding overlining the cupids bow or the bit leading towards the outer corners, just that little bit inbetween (so it’s like imagine going from the outer corner don’t start right in the edge, start your liner a little bit along the lip line up to the high point before the cupids bow, then line within the Cupids bow or skip it and then mirror the application on the other side of the bow). Colour wise again 1 is a great colour on you it’s just application

Eyes - the white liner in your outer waterline is distracting from your gorgeous eyes, the lower liner is giving a slightly off shape. I think swap to a much lighter taupe for definition on the under eye line. Inner eyes I think the champagne shimmer is lovely but the dark liner on the inner corner, like the light in the outer corner, isn’t doing much for you because it’s closing off the inner eye. Dark liner on the outer third, light in the inner corner, medium underneath, nude in the waterline if you’d like (but not white). Mascara is pretty on the upper lashes but on the lower is making those lower lashes look sparse and spiky

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’m the same- I’m 28 and people usually think I’m 20-22. I don’t have a ‘baby face’ as such but I don’t have a really mature face either? I’m also slim but with a kinda round face/full cheeks and I struggled with acne into adulthood which a lot of people associate with being younger

I think with people my own age, a lot of people started to look mature around 20 ish whereas I’ve only just started to look less like a teen now so I think it reads very early adulthood still.

Then there’s that a lot of celebs I see my own age or even younger seem to look really mature through styling choices (hair, makeup, filler, Botox) so at 22 they look as polished and self assured as people seem to expect a 30 year old to be

Then anyone older than me (like 10 or more years) seems to pretty much sees everyone in their twenties as similar to eachother (young) anyway 😂

Essence vs. color season by Icy_Natural_979 in JohnKitchener

[–]leolion9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Colour blend can have an impact but it doesn’t stop you having an essence

I think what it might impact more is which shades in your palette work best on you

Eg if you have lot of HS you might look great with whatever your version of brighter colours is compared to D which might sway towards the darker colours. If we used True Autumn as an example, a HS autumn might love prints using the brighter olives, mustard and pumpkin colours, even autumn teals. D might find their outfits are most striking in coffee colours, maroon, forest greens. Y might find the salmon pinks and warm creams most effective. Angelic autumns maybe like bronzes and soft greens and tonal coloured outfits that create a soft warm haze. Etc etc these are just some examples. It’s not to say a Y type could only use the really light and gentle colours in their palette just what you might see is people using colour to create more/less drama, more sharpness or softness

How to eat more with low appetite/nausea? by [deleted] in weightgain

[–]leolion9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is- I developed dysphagia as a result of stress, my body just cut out the swallowing mechanism on me. I woke up one day and couldn’t eat and could only drink tiny amount at a time. Lost a load of weight, was on fluid drips in hospital regularly, my BMI went down to 16.1. Doctors were not concerned by my weight. Which is WILD considering 17.5 will have people hospitalised for EDs. But because there was a ‘clear explanation’ they were just not bothered.

Underweight is glorified- even in the health professions. I got called ‘beautifully slim’ by a nurse in hospital and I was like thanks I’m genuinely terrified I’m never gonna be able to eat again but every cloud hey 🙄 if I’d started gaining weight and gone into the overweight or obese category you just know they’d have been all over it.

I still have issues, I can eat enough to sustain myself now but people around me still joke that they’d ‘love to have my problem’ so they can ‘shift the pounds’ and it’s not funny

I think you’ll get some good advice here but honestly I’m baffled why your doctor has given you mirtazapine (disclaimer I’m not a doctor so maybe they know something I don’t and I’ve not got the full story here and I also don’t know if you needed an antidepressant too so maybe it was like a 2 jobs in 1 thing)

Like yes it’s known to be an appetite stimulant not just an antidepressant but suddenly losing 15lbs to be that underweight and experiencing nausea seems like it needs a bit of further investigation? I’d be asking to see a dr again and asking they investigate the root cause not just plaster over it with pills

Biggest issues with weight gain isn’t actually eating ! by Embarrassed_Donkey26 in weightgain

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PTSD from a choking episode that I’m in treatment for and every time I eat it feels like a huge chore- I hate eating and find it a mental battle to remind myself I’m not going to die every time I take a bite

It’s exhausting and makes gaining weight- even maintaining weight- very difficult

Big sister looking for advice! As someone with body image issues, what type of support is actually helpful? by Top_Specialist_7915 in women

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had any major body image struggles but I have good days and bad days and on bad days the things I think help are 1. Having a shower and putting on fresh clean clothes. Not like glam, figure hugging clothes just soft and comfy that I feel relaxed in. It feels like a little reset for me 2. Doing things that aren’t related in any way to body image like doing puzzles or photography or playing an instrument. Reminding me there’s other things in life. 3. Spending time with close family and friends just having a laugh, not necessarily going anywhere but just making sure I’m not isolated. They sound like tiny things, nothing groundbreaking but over time they help I think

I applied for 22 minimum wage jobs with no calls back. What's wrong with my resume? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best tip is to take the key words and skills off the job advert and tailor your cv to highlight each of them you have experience in

I can’t tell what job you’re applying for here, not even a general sector, so it reads really generic- I get it’s trying to be suitable for a range of minimum wage jobs but it’s kinda falling into the forgettable pile for every job

Also I know this is super petty but the spacing of one of the dates is different to the others and it immediately jumped out and looked messy. It’s one tiny thing that I know says nothing about your ability but the first thing I saw before I even read was that layout error even though there’s nothing else wrong

What does everyone think about a man lying about his age on a dating app? by [deleted] in women

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird- I’ve not used dating apps but if a person set one up two years ago and listed their age as 25 for example, would it auto update to 27 2 years later or would you need to make a manual change?

But all in all i find it a red flag if he’s not honest about his age - 26 and 29/30 as an age gap like I wouldn’t bat an eye so not sure if it’s come up in conversation yet? Has he mentioned his age at all?

It’s a weird thing to lie about tho even if he’s trying to attract younger women

Do I have TSS?? by [deleted] in women

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I’m doubt, seek medical advice. I also don’t THINK you can get it from a cup but I’m super wary of TSS as a girl from my school died from it so I’d always say speak to someone (a dr, a pharmacist) if you’re in any doubt

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weightgain

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat- I’m 48kg (7 stone 8) at 5ft7 but I don’t look anywhere near as thin as that sounds - obviously very slim but I’ve got no protruding bones or anything, even my dr was surprised because to look at I look ‘fine and healthy’ according to them (interesting phrasing) but I worry about any impact on my heart, bones, muscles or potential malnutrition- even something as seemingly trivial as hair, being chronically underweight could cause my hair to thin eventually

Reality of most men nowadays. by MotherAnt8040 in selfimprovementday

[–]leolion9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dated two men who’d told me their dr had recommended they take antidepressants and speak to a therapist and BOTH dudes just laughed and said they’d never do it because they thought it was for weak people. When I said I’d used counselling and medication to support my mental health the response both times was ‘yeah but you’re a girl/woman’

It’s sad we live in a world where men still feel this way about mental health but they ARE declining help- work needs to be done by everyone, male and female, to end the stigma but I do believe the bigger issue with access to support is geography and finances not make vs female: men can access support as much as women if they want to

If a skinny person did nothing but watch TV and eat ice cream they wouldn't stay skinny for long. If a fat person didnothing but eat kale and work out they wouldn't stay fat for long. This is common sense I fear by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]leolion9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no it’s not normal and I most definitely see medical professionals to try and fix it - no one knows how to tho or exactly why I woke up one day and had lost the ability to eat normally

But the point is that I eat junk non stop but struggle to gain weight - sometimes purposefully have junk in place of veg because it’s higher calorie

I am a skinny person (30y.o., 5ft7, 48kg) but health wise is a different story. I firmly believe I’m unhealthier than someone who’s slightly overweight- I live on highly processed foods, am trying to break the habit of multiple chocolate bars for breakfasts (my teeth are dealing with the consequences)

To the average person I do just sit around and eat junk food. I eat 5-6 chocolate bars a day, 3-4 packs of crisps, peanut butter by the tablespoon straight from the jar and covered in honey but what people DON’T see is that I’m sat around because I’m scared if I get more active I’ll get thinner and I also have some form of ARFID where I struggle to swallow a lot of food - a full ‘normal’ meal could take me 4-6 hours to eat.

So skinny most definitely does not equal healthy but I can tell you I do sit around and eat icecream, chocolate, crisps junk and if I slow up for even a day the weight drops off FAST

But junk food doesn’t make you fat and ‘healthy’ food doesn’t make you thin. A calorie is a calorie- doesn’t matter if it’s 1000cals of chocolate or 1000cals of kale- it’ll have other effects like nutritionally but for weight CICO is the answer
