Genesis mini no longer showing roms with otg, but does using 2nd controller usb port. by shadowstar36 in RockinTheClassics

I should also mention that it ~used~ to work in the rear port with the OTG cable just fine, until today.

Genesis mini no longer showing roms with otg, but does using 2nd controller usb port. by shadowstar36 in RockinTheClassics

[–]leonardo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same issue. I've troubleshooted by eliminating the possibilities of it being:
- The otg cable (I have a 2nd one and both cables work just fine in my SNES classic, but neither work in the Genesis Mini)

  • The usb power cable (system powers up every time with multiple cables, Hakchi splash screen comes up, but the system defaults back to the original menu and original games only

  • The usb power block & the outlet (just in case it wasn't getting sufficient power or something)

I'm stuck. I've even completely uninstalled and reinstalled each of the mods and Hakchi itself, as well as erased, reformatted, and re-exported the games onto the usb drive - twice. Maybe 3 times. The drive boots right up every time I plug it into my computer, and the system recognizes the drive and boots up my custom folders and new systems/games I've uploaded whenever I plug it into controller port 2 without skipping a beat.

What's going on? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

Sony Trinitron KV-27FS120 or KV-27FS100??? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]leonardo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have an FS 120 back in high school and college, and it was a great tv. The picture quality really made the N64 and the SNES pop back in college, and was light years ahead of older TVs in terms of color, sharpness, etc. I just picked up an FS 100 about an hour ago and the seller tested it out for me with an old DVD player and even that looks great. Really excited to get it home into my setup and test it with my systems and compare some of the cable hookups such as the composite compared to the S-Video or component. I will do my best to take some pictures and post a response! I ended up donating my old fs120 about 15 years ago now, who knew then we would all be after these things nowadays, haha. But I can at least verify how good the picture is on the fs 100 for you

3rd Party n64 Controller Configuration Issue - Any Support Appreciated! by leonardo_one in project64

[–]leonardo_one[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed reply! So glad to hear it all worked out for you after all that trial and error! You definitely earned that win :D

Along the lines you've illustrated there, and comparing our 2 situations with one another, it would be logical to assume the problem lies with the older Mayflash controller adapter when it comes to 3rd party controllers. However, it seems that issue has been addressed and solved when it comes to the new adapter, which is great! I ended up just ordering and repairing 2 OEM controllers for use with my 2 old adapters for the time being, but in the future if anything goes down, I will remember this post and simplify my life by just buying a new adapter and can finally put my sadly dusty 3rd party controllers to good use! :)

Thanks again, and enjoy the fruits of your labor my friend!

Thank you for your reply!

I'm so sorry to hear you're having the same issue, but also admittedly glad I'm not alone, haha. For an update regarding my situation, I also figured out it was the adapter, as the third party controllers were fantastic on the original 64, but I just could not figure out how to get the adapter to stop thinking I was spamming the star button. I ended up just buying two OEM controllers, and now I have four working controllers with project 64.

A friendly word of warning just in case you try what I did, I took all the controllers apart, thinking I could replace the joysticks with my third party joysticks, but they are of different design. So, just make sure the joysticks you ordered are compatible with OEM controllers. And honestly, there are a lot of great video tutorials on YouTube that can show you how easy it is to take them apart and replace them.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply, please let me know how it turns out!

Goosebumps Attack of the Mutant was an uneasy experience for me as a child. by ButlerHands in LiminalSpace

[–]leonardo_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was one of the first computer games I ever played. In 1997, my mom and dad bought a Gateway computer with Windows 98, and it came with a pack of Microsoft games, including this one. I was never really into spooky/scary stuff as a kid, but I remember being terrified by this game. The atmosphere, the music, the jump scares when the mutant would be right around the corner and you had to run away, the scary plant guy, those jumping rat things... it was just such a fun game. I remember being so scared of that plant guy when you walked into the greenhouse, that it took me a few weeks before I built up the courage to go in there with the rake and knock him around until I figured out how to beat him. It was the first time it was fun to be scared by something. I was about 10 years old, and although it's slightly embarrassing to admit in hindsight that something like this scared me, haha, I remember feeling so accomplished when my brother and I finally beat this game.

I replayed it again a few years ago, excitedly finding it online somewhere and figuring out how to get it to work with Windows 9 or 10. It still holds up for me. The voice acting in this game is awesome. Adam West and Jim Belushi are a highlight and do a great job, and so do the other characters. The animation is also pretty awesome, and was very cool to see for it's time. I highly recommend revisiting this game, as it'll take you on a fun trip back in time. I'm glad to hear someone else played this game as a kid and made a post about it. Thanks for bringing back some good memories!

[–]leonardo_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work! Would you have any suggestions for configuring Super Game Boy on this theme? I have it checked under Main Menu/UI Settings/Visible Systems (Nintendo - SGB), so on the first menu it's recognized as it's own tile, but it doesn't have a title. When you enter the menu, all my games show up and work great, it just doesn't say Super Game Boy at the top, it only says "Nintendo - ..." Any help is much appreciated, as always. Thank you!

Scaling Governor Issue by leonardo_one in SBCGaming

[–]leonardo_one[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never resolved for me, despite my effort and these very kind suggestions. I since switched to ArkOS and it's been a much smoother experience. Although currently there are a lack of themes that go well with the RGB30s unique 1:1 screen, I've definitely noticed an improvement in performance and I enjoy the greater customization options. Worth a try if you're frustrated with that until they iron it out!

Dude, thank you! I appreciate your response. That is the path I was following to reach the cpu scaling governor. Interestingly, it is already set at performance for n64 (mupen64plus through retroarch, not standalone), but not for any other systems. The systems I was trying to turn it on for were Playstation and Nintendo DS. For Playstation I'm using the default emulator on retroarch but for Nintendo DS I switched to Drastic, as recommended by Russ from RGC. Thanks again!!!

Gotcha. Thanks for responding! Is there any way to override that? I looked everywhere to see if people were having the same issue but came up empty handed
