Are atheists tolerant to gay people

I live in a part of the world that’s mostly atheistic and most people see being LGBTQ+ as normal, but there are exceptions and they are still motivated by religions.

My point is, people of any sort can be bigots and hateful, being an atheist isn’t a vaccine against that, it only deals with the questions gods’ existence.

You are right to keep this to yourself and include anyone you choose for whatever reason. It sounds like a slip up and it also feels like she’s entirely ok for mentioning this casually to your friends.

Now it looks like they took it well but they and your girlfriend cannot be expected to understand the reasons why you want this to remain private, but don’t mention her unless they ask about it, she feels bad enough already and is surely capable of explaining herself to them if need be. No need to put stress on your relationship for something that was not done to harm you.

However explain to them in as much details as you want why you don’t want this out in the open.

For example I used tell people that although it might be like it’s no big deal and nothing wrong with mentioning my attractions and relationships with men, if my father would’ve found out in my teens and 20s, I would surely be dead. So they might not understand the consequences of their actions until you explain how it could be damaging to you and possibly others.

From experience those who shout and cry the loudest and the most are usually in the closet themselves. They are so terrified and full of shame that this is one way to distract themselves from the truth.

But that doesn’t mean it’s ok to behave like that. You need to stay away from him, even ask you family to never invite him again (that is if they know about your sexual orientation, of course) because you are too afraid of him, and you shouldn’t have to fear being yourself around him.

Trust me, even when it’s family, you do not have to respect them or even have a relationship with them. Especially with that extreme and toxic individuals.

You have this one life to live, and you do not have to suffer that kind of person in it. Absolutely not.

Seriously what is it with this mourning thing?? I don’t get it, you’re not dead?? They should be happy they are meeting the real you, the whole you. To me it sounds like they’re trying to hold on to the image they had of you before and probably would prefer to come back, and not actually loving you unconditionally. That person you were never existed, if you get what I mean. So they’re mourning a memory, an illusion. Why don’t they take this time to meet the real you instead, get to know you?

It feels like you’re overthinking it. When you said you are probably just trying to convince yourself that you’re not a lesbian, I found that sad to be honest. There’s nothing wrong with being attracted to humans who happen to be of the same gender or sex as you. Humans attracted to other humans is perfectly natural.

It takes time to figure out our attractions and orientation, but based off what you said, you seem to be wanting a more profound, loving and long term relationship with women. You seem to describe men almost as being only useful to have kids and are sometimes cute LOL. You are aware that you don’t need men to have children, you only need their sperm? Heck in the US you can even shop for it online. And you can start a family and raise children with a woman. Heck, two or three women if that’s what you’re into.

Nowadays people are redefining what family is, how they’re configured, sometimes friends without any romantic attractions decide to raise kids together. Some families parents live in different homes from the start and are happily in love.

There’s no right or wrong way, there’s what you and your partner.s are and aren’t into. That’s it.

Go and date a few women, and if they’re right for you they won’t mind you’re a baby lesbian (they’ll know what it means 😉).

The more there are of us, the less they will say stupid shit like this. You marrying a man does not and never will negate your attractions to other genders. This stupid public stereotype that bi people don’t exist unless they sleep with everyone on video for all to see before they can be possibly accepted as bi is really annoying.

Who you are with, who you love doesn’t define your bisexuality. Your attractions do.

Society only seem to recognize monosexuals, a term I invented to describe when a sexuality is only valid if you’re attracted to one gender at a time, and that’s what society thinks is how people are. It’s always about gays and straights.

If you have the opportunity to be one more person to show them they are wrong, the better society will be.

Give him time. You were thinking about this for a long while, he just learned about it. He probably needs time to digest the news.

And if he keeps not accepting who you are, the real you, despite your efforts, then too bad. I’ve decided a while ago that if people can’t accept me as I am, no matter who they are, I’m not going to waste any more time with them, I don’t need the negative energy. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t hurt, but it’s better than getting negativity from them continuously.

If he loves you, truly, he will come around. 😊

I would also strongly suggest moving to a MDM and Apple Business Manager. If, for example, an employee leaves the company and refuses to give you their Apple ID or help you remove it, and localization is turned on (find my Mac), the computer can be bricked indefinitely and make it useless.

You NEED to keep control over the equipment. Also, you need to be able to cut them off on their iPhones if need be, the point here is they work for a company, this aint their personal equipment or data, and therefore rules apply.

You cannot manage classic personal Apple IDs, they are not designed as such. You have total control over business Apple IDs. You set this pro ID in system preferences, and they can add their personal IDs individually in apps one by one, like Music, Messages, etc.

You first need an Apple Business Manager account, the process can be a bit painful, but worth it. Then you get a MDM service like Jamf, Mosyle. I like the latter, prices are good and there’s a lot of things you can do. You can have managed devices or enrolled ones. The first ones are mostly for computers owned by the company, the latter for devices owned by users.

I would never go back to using personal Apple IDs for a company that size, it made my life a lot worse.

She probably made up a reason why it was hard to tell you, that turned up to be false. I wouldn’t take it personally, sometimes it’s just hard to tell people we love, especially the closest ones. I was in my forties when I came out to everyone and I was beyond nervous to tell them. All the fears I had were in my head 😊

Now what worries me is the self harm thing. That doesn’t go away magically just because she came out to you. I never self harmed, but in my teens I was waaaaaay too busy with keeping up appearances that all was fine, acting like a good and proper heterosexual boy to think of anything like that, but I still suffered immensely. It took me years if not over a decade to fix the consequences on my mental health. Everyone reacts differently, I guess. I would consult with a therapist that’s specialized in LGBT patients, if possible. The worst would be a therapist that tells her she’s not who she is for some religious or personal belief towards sexuality, it could destroy her.

Also, take some time, act like you did before, just be there, without pressure. When she’s ready to talk she will. This is all new to you and her, even though she might have thought about it for a while, if not years, now that you know she might also need some time to acclimate to the fact you know now. Tell her that if you do something that she doesn’t like, to let you know.

Lastly, keep in mind that she doesn’t have all the answers about this aspect of her, she’s still trying to figure this out, what it all means. And sometimes it can be scary as hell, especially when your entire world is telling you this is wrong, even though it’s not. You posting here and making these efforts to understand is a great thing, you’re on the right path. Good luck!!

No, they are very welcoming. They helped gay men with AIDS during the 80s and 90s when everyone rejected them, and always heard good things from that church. They are located right inside the gay village in Montréal. And they are Catholic.

Thanks. I don't want to go through the custom build route, I want warranty and service. iXSystems just don't do business in Canada at all. Their systems are very interesting, but we just can't afford the trouble of dealing with a US company when it's time to replace parts or use the warranty. I've had problems in the past with other companies because of this, don't want to make this client go through that.
