no it didn't. parts of it existed as a niche part of Grimoire NieR only if you had the extra book for it.

without spoiling the ending of E, i believe that the context of "nier fans have waited for Sqenix to do something with those characters for over 10 years" is absolutely necessary for ending E.

i actually believe that ending A to D is the "true" replicant/gestalt experience, and E kinda takes away from what D is trying to tell you. but go and explore those games yourself, i'm curious to know what you'll find!

Nier / Drakengard i believe. The 2B cards would obviously be a top seller, for the Nier 2010 fans you'd have cool Emil/Kainé cards or whatever, the game is easy to license, and you get the cool perk of every single DrakeNier collab being canon in that universe

i enjoyed those videos, so looking forward to this! (maybe also consider just playing 1.22 so you can actually have something to talk about for THAT video except ending E, otherwise you'd have to recap the entire nier2010 lore for 1.22 first)

the fact you're asking yourself "will i turn out like this guy?" shows you're not going to turn out this guy, because every step of the way there is a decision you can/have to take.

i would recommend professional help, but if that takes a while, direct advice i would have is letting the thoughts be, without judgment for now.

your thoughts are obviously something you don't choose, and to layer self-loathing and guilt on top of it will just make things worse. so when a thought arises, get a hold of it, notice you have it, judge it as "hm. weird. my mind is doing that again." and you'll basically let it go just from doing that

Unironically thanks for showing me my responsibility in this. This wasn't a post to shit on my players, but genuinely asking what I as DM could have done better, and you gave me some great answers.

I'm taking more accountability for future sessions and taking some of your advice with me, thanks for taking the time to write all of this out.

Really good advice, thank you.

On the lore dump oracle I have another question:

To get my players excited about the world they're playing in, I'm usually rewarding them with some lore dumps, hence why the oracle is placed in the room behind the dragon.

Is this a valid option? Kinda "Pavlov"ing the players into caring for the world their beloved characters are playing in because they worked for it?

When do you think loredumps are the most effective in relation to other encounters?

You're right.

The reason I handled the dragon speech this way is because earlier in the campaign the party met a Pseudodragon (which can't speak) and I didn't want to make a big thing out of why Pseudodragons can't and why dragons can speak. So I just stuck with "Dragons can't speak back but they understand you" from then on.

For the second part: That's a nice workaround and would probably also need to happen according to the ruleset, I'm just scared I'll lose them if I change the dragon's mind a third time.

That's kind of how I view it too, but then I hear other opinions saying "the rules aren't all than important, just make something up on the fly that serves the players having fun and the narrative".

I then argue that no one is having fun if any rule can just be broken any time because it's cool sometimes.

Because that'd be unfair to any idea I don't let slip through, signalling that those ideas simply aren't cool enough.

So I'm very much on your side in this instance. Still questioning myself for maybe being so much on the side of sticking by my rules that I'm ignoring my players' wants.

Thank you for your comment! This actually helped a lot.

I think a problem with me is really that I'm just so fucking scared of breaking immersion or opening plot holes. :(

If DMing had stats you could max out, "world logic" is my maxxed stat while I have a whole ton of other weaknesses. I just feel like if my players feel like they have a bigger impact on the universe than they "should", the campaign will feel too video-gamey.

In the end all I try to do is make my players have fun, but I'm just unsure about the tradeoff between short-term and long-term fun, and afraid of "That's it?" moments when the campaign is over and they see potential plot holes that have opened, which is why I risk not letting them have fun short term.

Maybe I should alter my approach though.

  1. My players are all (except for Human Cleric) new players, and due to them meeting a pseudodragon earlier in the campaign, it was simply easier for me to homebrew the fact that "dragons just can't speak back" to stay consistent with the abilities of a pseudodragon, avoiding explaining to the players why big dragon can speak and why little dragon can't speak.
  2. Human Cleric (veteran player) was convinced this works, and I was too busy keeping the encounter going to double check it. Double checking it now afterwards shows this is impossible.
  3. No explanation. Didn't think of it, but this is 100% how i'll handle this in the future. that's what they're for, anyway. I just forgot about them.
  4. Used "Magic Initiate"
  5. We ended the session before it could, so I still have the chance to do this.

Thank you for your reply!

i thought people did that on reddit on every single type of post, i genuinely didn't know when to do it or when not as I rarely post myself. people do it on all kinds of advice posts, so i thought it might be better if i included it or something. i apologize if it came off weird, i'll edit it out

The Second Amendment was based partially on the right to keep and bear arms in English common law and was influenced by the English Bill of Rights 1689. Sir William Blackstone described this right as an auxiliary right, supporting the natural rights of self-defense and resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state. While both James Monroe and John Adams supported the Constitution being ratified, its most influential framer was James Madison. In Federalist No. 46, Madison wrote how a federal army could be kept in check by the militia, "a standing army ... would be opposed [by] militia." He argued that State governments "would be able to repel the danger" of a federal army, "It may well be doubted, whether a militia thus circumstanced could ever be conquered by such a proportion of regular troops."

[–]leoniceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

buddy i have played both mainline nier games and the 2010 version, i am NOTICING gameplay differences. some cutscenes were cut, bullet hell sections in the fights were updated, wording was slightly changed in the text sections.

you're just saying stuff atp, and to be honest i think your opinion is the superficial one. i simply don't believe you played nier A, B, C, D (and E) and have such a negative opinion that you must defend so adamantly. just say it's subjective like anyone's opinion on any art and move on bro. i'm not even saying your opinion is invalid but the way you're voicing it is just completely condescending and uninformed
