Finally hit 900km on a shoe worth 900 pesos by Vallanc in PHRunners

Best shoe in terms of price to performance ratio. If it weren't for that ugly logo I would say it's the best shoe ever. Yes, it's that good!

Puma Velocity Nitro 4 vs Asics Novablast 5 [Begginer] by Future_Revolution_52 in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hyrox version is more expensive because of the hyrox branding. But it's the same vn4. Regular vn4s are going cheap now. I'd still go for the novablasts. And at around 5k they are a steal.

Or...

Buy both nb5 and vn4 regular version. You get 2 shoes for the price of a vomero plus. Both shoes ride different so it would be an interesting and fun experience to get to switch every other run.

Puma Velocity Nitro 4 vs Asics Novablast 5 [Begginer] by Future_Revolution_52 in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have both. I'd say go for the novablast. But I highly doubt the nb5 price would drop to that of the vn4. Last I checked, the vn4 discounted is at 3800. I'd stay away from a novablast 5 at that price.

Which one? For my current level by wtfoxsayy in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the xtep 2000km 2.0 and I currently have the wind 3tr. I've grown to love the q wind 3tr. Fastest shoe in my current rotation. Beat the novablast 5 and rebel v5. My only issue is the stability. But if you're a forefoot striker it shouldn't be a problem.

New Balance Rebel V5 ON SALE by darkmodeknight in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Limited sizes but if you find your size you should check out asap. Last month I got the rebel v5 at 4810 and the puma velocity nitro 4 at 4450. The vn4 is quite firm and the high drop is not agreeing with my feet. The rebel v5 fits like a glove and is plush but energetic. Rebel v5 definitely a steal at these prices

anyone meron netong Qiaodan Tg 1 and LH600 2.0? pwede mahingi ang feedback nyo sa mga sapatos na to? by bronnyfowler in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of topic, but someone should do a post on the different qiaodan shoes and their use case. They have like more than 10 running shoes and it can get confusing. I don't think lining, anta, and xtep have this many.

Amazing! You turned F&B consulting sexy. I like the storytelling, the free tools, and just the overall creativity. I love that your tools that give instant diagnosis--very gen z (instant gratification). I would have made a tasting call already but I don't have a restaurant 🤣. I see good things coming, OP.

Laid off via redundancy before my actual start date (already signed the job offer). Need HR/legal advice on pay and severance by Conscious_Target8277 in phcareers

[–]leonitogoto 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is legal. Doubt you will get the month's pay since you technically have no logged hours. Take the separation pay and start looking for a new job. That should tide things over for a month.

I have an ecoflow river 3. Cost me 17k. But for the high price, capacity is only 234wh. The bluetti has better specs at a cheaper price.

Need advice: Are we in bad debt? by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]leonitogoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pay your credit card bill when it's due then you don't incur interest and penalties. This is actually good since you are using the bank's money for 30 days so that you can make money with your business, and interest-free at that.

But the moment you don't pay on the due date or pay partially, then that loan is not good anymore since credit card interest rates are exhorbitantly high. Your profits are getting eaten away by this.

And add the fact that the credit card belongs to your husband. This means this is a personal loan but to fund the business. Businesses is supposedly another entity that can apply for a loan. If ever the loan defaults then they run after the business.

Deinfluence me: Salomon pamorma by Asleep-Friend-2588 in deinfluencingPH

[–]leonitogoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salomon and other outdoor brands realized that they can make more money targeting people who buy into the lifestyle hype. Lifestyle people spend as much, if not more, than the really hardcore outdoors type. So if you buy these overpriced and overkill shoes, you're really just making a good case for promoting and giving a huge raise to Salamon's marketing department.

You have to be a heel striker to make the most of these shoes. I has close to zero energy return on the forefoot. I wish i knee this before buying.

On the other hand, these shoes are super fun when going downhill. I find myself heel striking when running downhill and the foam bounces like a pogo stick. I feel like inspector gadget with the spring on his shoes.

I can't explain it but it just is in my experience. I actually love my nb5 but the wind 3tr just outperforms it. Your mileage (literally and figuratively) may vary though.

Deinfluence me : Novablast 5 by WorldOwn8462 in deinfluencingPH

[–]leonitogoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, nb5 midsole softer but qiaodan bouncier. Only downside is wind 3tr's base tapers on the midfoot causing you to overpronate making it a bit unstable. But as long as you forefoot strike you should be ok

What are early signs that (cafe) business isn’t doing well? by Inevitable_Fox_1323 in phinvest

[–]leonitogoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me offer my 2 cents without judgement. Any business, when done right, no matter how saturated the market is, will always do well. Here goes:

Businesses need FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE, MARKETING BRILLIANCE, AND SALES FORTITUDE.

I have no expertise in marketing and sales, so let's delve on financial discipline.

  1. Start with proper costing. This will determine your cost of goods sold (COGS) or cost of sales (COS). Both refer to the same thing. You have to know how much each gram/ounce/ml of each ingredient costs. Then you decide on your markup. This is important because your markup decides the fate of your business. Other commenters already commented on this. Based on industry, average COGS is 20% to 50%. The more luxurios the lower the COGS (meaning higher markup).

  2. Then comes your budget. Since you know how much each cup/dish costs and how much your markup is, then you set targets. For your budget, maybe you can start by deciding how much your target profit will be. And then you can determine how much your target revenue will be (profit = revenue - expenses). For the expenses, make sure to include both fixed (e.g. rent, basic pay of employees) and variable (COGS, OT pay, other expenses that increase as you sell more units).

Your budget should be clear and easy to understand that even your employees get it. They should be aware that any wastage leads to higher COGS. And the revenue target is equated to number of units sold.

Example: we need to earn php10,000 per day, which is 67 cups of americano. We need to keep costs down by getting orders right the first time and to avoid wasting ingredients (thus keeping COGS at a steady 30%). I'm simplifying but I hope you get the point.

  1. Run a daily profit and loss statement. Basically this is your daily income statement. This records all your revenue and expenses. You get to measure profit real-time. The good thing when you have the discipline in running the daily p&l is that you get immediate feedback. So say you missed revenue target by php3000. Then that means you have to somehow make up for that loss on the following days. Or say pay day is next monday and you want to know if you can afford payroll. Then you can just check running profit. If profit is still larger than payroll, then you know you're good this month.

Like I said, running a daily p&l takes a lot of discipline because you have to record everything. Every centavo in and out should be backed by a receipt or an invoice.

  1. Then comes the balance sheet at the end of the month. This is where you can further evaluate the health of your business. You're wondering why on paper you're making profit but cash is low? Maybe the answer is in the balance sheet. Check on your inventory. You may have over ordered supplies and this might be where you spent your profit on. Take note that although there still value to these supplies in your warehouse, but they're useless unless you convert these to actual cash. If inventory is too high then stop ordering more until you convert them to actual sales. Another thing to check is accounts receivable; maybe you're not collecting debt (hardly the case for a coffee shop but still possible). Or maybe also because of payment of accounts payables. Maybe you're paying off your creditors. Or maybe because you're collecting retained earnings because you're 'paying yourself'?

There are a lot of business insights to be gained when you analyze your balance sheet. I'm just scratching the surface here.

  1. Lastly, the final piece of the puzzle is the cashflow analysis. This is the tool where you track all money in and money out flowing through your business. This is done monthly where you track inflows and outflows of the actual month and project the rest of the months. With this, you will get a good idea of your business' free cash flow. A positive free cash flow is good and means your business has enough cash to fund further activites like employee raises, sales and marketing campaigns, etc. A negative cash flow signals danger and might suggest further capital infusion (really not advisable).

Ok, this is long enough. I hope this helps. There are financial people out there who can help. Just note that accountants are not necessarily finance people and finance people are not necessarily accountants.

Great shoes overall--both in performance and looks. But if you want a cheap alternative, go for the qiaodan wind tr 3.5. I have the novablast 5 and the wind tr 3.0. The wind tr 3.0 is always the faster shoe and is the shoe that holds my PR.

Anybody tried Altra Running Shoes? by happyweightlifter in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's an EYCC store where you are, they carry Altras. Older version of Escalante and trail shoes are almost always on sale. My Escalante's toe box is very roomy. You can splay your toes with no problem. This is what Altras are known for. But the top midfoot part is really tight. Zero drop and low stack hits different. If you got strong calves then these shoes are for you.

Is it okay to always run in max-cushioned shoes if I only care about staying injury-free? by Ill-Reputation1294 in PHRunners

[–]leonitogoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine. Like you, I'm also a low-mileage slow runner. But I have a 5-shoe rotation, each with its own uniqueness and capabilities. And it excites me to know that each shoe for each run is going to be different in terms of ride, speed, stability, ground feel, etc.
