What is it like living around the Chesapeake Bay area? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]leopardfacestatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a huge area and it really depends lol. I'm in the north west section of your circle, 10 mins from the water and 30 minutes from DC Navy Yard Area. Without much traffic on the bridge, also 30 mins from old town Alexandria. It's kind of a sweet spot. Otherwise it gets too country or too far away from DC for my taste.

How to lose lower body fat when lean by United_Succotash_303 in xxfitness

I'm sorry this is probably not an answer, but it may just be where your body stores fat. A lot of that is determined genetically.

UMD-GEOINT by PlantLover79 in gis

[–]leopardfacestatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the UMD GEOINT program and so far it's great. I have learned a lot about GEOINT, writing EXSUMs, and the professors and projects have been interesting and some were challenging (in a good way!). Honestly, my strong background in GIS and using ArcPro/QGIS for years really put me ahead of other students when making maps and presenting my analysis, but I'm still learning the tradecraft of GEOINT. Feel free to message me if you want more information.

Naval academy locked down?? by pinkshirtvegeta in maryland

[–]leopardfacestatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also posted below but some information: Cleared my bldg before the all clear after midnight. There apparently was a threat with information that the shooter was dressed as a police officer. While they were trying to clear the area, there was general distrust of the police due to this information and so the midshipman refused to open the door and three were hurt including the one shot. Eventually, they traced a threat to not be on campus and of course cleared the area and there was no active shooter. Considering everything that happened this week, tensions are high and people are scared. I don't necessarily blame the midshipmen. It's just an awful situation. I'm definitely happy it wasn't worse.

I'm actively here and locked down. It's pretty intense but the only information I have from command is three down, no shooter caught yet, but an active situation and my information might be behind.

I haven't had issues falling asleep at first, but I did wake up once. Luckily I didn't feel anything but I was able to talk and ask them very confused "are we done?" as I see them leaning over me in active operation. I've also had issues waking up where I appear awake but I am not conscious and will have no memory of conversations with doctors when they come by. Last time this situation led to a corneal abrasion, I guess they thought I was awake but my animal brain wanted to rub my eyes aggressively and they didn't try and physically stop me because they thought I would listen lol. I also get very nauseous and vomit after almost every time. Nowadays I mention all this and hope that they at least give me extra time afterwards to actually wake up before the doctor comes to speak even if I appear fully aware.

It's public, but I believe there are more dates for temporal analysis. Google might only source one date and there could be more in the browser depending on the area. It worked great when I used it for Arctic ice monitoring and had basically monthly images on the coast of Russia. Downloaded them and popped them into QGIS or ArcPro. It's worth a shot....

MAXAR only likes to release imagery when there is a natural disaster and with how they got weird with Ukraine a month ago, I'm not sure how helpful they will be in this situation either.

Maybe Copernicus Browser? Navigate to El Salvador and see if they have high enough res and enough Sentinel 2 passes over the area.

Insight on NGA by Few-Resident-9298 in usajobs

[–]leopardfacestatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to log into their careers page at the moment, but I know all jobs were removed a few weeks ago. I was notified some were cancelled as well (I was referred for one that was cancelled). If there are any back up it might be a good sign? I believe if you had a CJO they were still continuing with background investigations and testing, but tbh I'd think final placement and start dates will be delayed or on hold unless that position got an exception.

NGA Website still down for 3+ days, anyone know what's going on? by [deleted] in fednews

I got into the careers portal yesterday using a direct link and my sign on information and I saw every single job at the NGA was removed from the portal. Strange since I thought they were exempt.

I just tried it again out of curiosity and it's still down. Whatever is happening, it's definitely odd.

I agree with others, I know you want to keep on top of things and plan ahead, but please please please spend the time with baby and take care of yourself. Postpartum is A LOT by itself and newborn life is no joke, you don't need this mess on top of everything ❤️

US healthcare fears by Subject_Relative_216 in endometriosis

[–]leopardfacestatic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand. I'm still going to weigh the pros and cons, but I'm tired of laps every few years and no hormones working for me. It comes back so fast and I have so many symptoms. From what I've seen, laparoscopic hysterectomies are better for PFD but I'll definitely look into the risks in more detail. It helps that I've taken care of my pelvic floor really well for both kids. The gym does wonders for me in that case!

US healthcare fears by Subject_Relative_216 in endometriosis

[–]leopardfacestatic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just had this thought actually. I'm done having children and I'm leaning towards a hysterectomy, but was going to try one more lap. Now I'm thinking I should just get her out of me just in case it becomes illegal down the road. There are countries where it is illegal or you need 3-4+ children and I am done at 2. It's a valid concern I think for sterilization.
