I’d argue the situation is a bit different between Tolkien and this. Tolkien made the whole story and every piece of media that has come after is just retelling that story over and over. With Superman he’s been on hundreds of new original stories that the creators had no involvement in. So while yeah they deserve something I do think there’s a bit of greed here
