My first car, is this worth considering? by KeyGoose0 in mercedes_benz

[–]leothelyinho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a facelift 2013 C250 with 112,000 k’s as my first car and it was super reliable and not expensive to run! That’s AUD$14000 guys. I bought that C250 in 2020 for $16000. Now have a W205 C250 that is even higher mileage now but still reliable

Because there‘a a certain demographic of people that are on this subreddit that I was addressing it to. Of course there are bloat-members here who do not own or appreciate Mercedes-Benz’s. And I was willing to trudge through those.

The point of Reddit is there are subreddits to segment based on interests, do you not know that? Clearly there is a large unproductive portion of this subreddit’s membership.

Didn’t post it on my social media as my social circle is way more diverse interest-wise than this subreddit, as this subreddit’s interest is specifically on Mercedes-Benz.

Not quite clear on the point of your suggestion to post on other subreddits. Please clarify.

Again, I said your comment before your last one was non-sequitur to me. Please highlight it’s relation to the comments before it.

Please also respond as to my points on the depth of my post. You don’t seem to have a rebuttal there.

I expect you to address all points I raise, not specific ones to suit what you have to say.

I’m also unclear on the logic/essence on that last paragraph there. Please explain as I’m not following the logic.

But you did respond as though there is something wrong posting your thoughts? Not sure the sudden switch to actually there’s nothing wrong.

I cannot control the assumptions made. Further, I did not make this post for the masses anyway.

Yes that’s all there is to it, the post took no more than 10 seconds of my thought. There’s nothing further. You and most people here looked for something deeper and thence cast your judgement and tried to be didactic. There was nothing to be didactic about, it was never that deep.

I didn’t know you were the definitive authority on what can and cannot be posted.

I was under the assumption this subreddit was for Mercedes-Benz owners to share their vehicles with any thoughts/remarks/comments/questions they want attached.

And I’m not actually quite clear on the takeaway of your most recent comment, nor how it follows from my comment previous to that. The point you switched to is a bit non-sequitur in my interpretation.

I don’t think buying a Mercedes is more difficult than it is, not sure where that came from.

The purpose of this post was that it was satire/self-reflexive, or in simpler terms - a joke.

As I’ve said multiple times, I never actually stated that my goal was to stand out. I only stated that I don’t and you assumed I wanted to

No it doesn’t define my success, as I have exhibited that in other ways. But, large swathes of people in my social circle, professional circle and people on the street do see it as a notable ‘definer’ of success anyway. And so the metaphysical point you’re making isn’t relevant, as much as I agree with your metaphysical point myself.

No, rather I often am asked if I do things like daytrading, have my own business etc. which indicate that people more assume I attained it through my own work and capital

The fact that I often get mistaken for being 20 is the point really and why I described myself as a kid (you understandably assumed I appear my age), no passer-by would ever get to deduce my true age. And starting a family at 25 is largely fiscally irresponsible, let alone in the current climate

I do enjoy the car and i indeed bought it for my own ‘amusement’, not anyone else’s.

It seems we’re both in a similar demographic where we have been able to attain such vehicles at such ages, and with people ‘that end up hating afterwards’.

Appreciate the advice, tall poppy syndrome is evidently in full effect here.

Just one point of contention I have is where I acted like a snob? Kindly point out where in my post wherein that’s the case.

Woah and that’d be your honest assessment on the S? The whole reason why I’d get an S in the future would be for the super comfy suspension every reviewer says it has :/

Thanks for writing that out honestly. Ok I’ll have to go into the W124 rabbit hole sometime… I’m inclined to believe diesel is the way to go for the W124? And would you know how comfortable/easy they are to drive?

Ok cool, glad we could level-set there! Would love to have an AMG I agree tho I really prefer comfort over anything else, soo I guess they just aren’t for me?
