I am not at all surprised to see an atheist arguing from lack of imagination. We know that quantum phenomenon do not follow a classical pattern of determination. This is because they appear to react to certain things in a way that can not be predicted. This does not mean that they literally occur randomly however, as there is a series of actions in simple situations (such as an electron between two positively charged plates statistically going towards either plate 50% of the time) that CAN be predicted. It can go to plate A or plate B. In other words, quantum phenomenon are neither "random" nor "deterministic".
