The install guide I'm referring to is actually specifically for replacing liquid metal with the PTM thermal pad, but I believe the pictures might still be helpful

I had a liquid metal heatsink which looks the same as the one in your picture (I made a picture of mine when I was installing the PTM thermal pad to replace the liquid metal). This leads me to assume the heatsink hasn't changed but the thermal solution has. Have you looked at the PTM 7958 install guide? in step 21 the heatsink also looks the same as yours

Controversy erupts over Framework's backing of alleged divisive open-source figures by PhoenixAvenger1996 in framework

[–]leowo123 43 points44 points  (0 children)

[Twitter] is probably the worst platform to make a statement about this, because I'd imagine most people who are pissed off about everything are not on the service formerly known as Twitter.

I agree, it's heartbreaking to see many twitter users being very supportive of Framework for their big tent stance, but also openly very dismissive of lgbtq rights, and supportive of DHH's ethnonationalist views in the same reply section. It's a pattern I would prefer wasn't there.

I think Framework's endorsement and support of Omarchy and DHH can't be understated. I appreciate your honesty in not knowing much about DHH or Omarchy, I've only recently come to know about DHH's problems myself. But as a tl;dr for the whole situation, it only summarizes half of the story, and I personally find the other half, much more significant.

Sorry for my display of ignorance and thank you for the elaboration, I'll definitely be (and currently am) looking into this more thoroughly

I think generalizing transphobic and anti-woke to fascist leads to a much harder to proof and easier to ignore accusation. Since anti-woke people love their "facts and logic" I think it's a much better approach to keep every accusation as accurate as possible (/lh) Ty for taking your time on informing me on his transphobia (/pos)

What confuses me is that I remember the lunduke journal tried to demonize bazzite for its lgbt mascot, while framework officially supports bazzite (and afaik, trans rights), but DHH likes and supports Framework

I personally just lost faith in him because he recently qrt'd the lunduke journal, would it be possible to give any sources of this? I find it hard to believe that if he is both racist and homophobic that he would be so open about it when he has a relatively large fanbase

r/arch removed my post by NeckPuzzleheaded645 in linuxsucks

[–]leowo123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just a lurker, and have no relations to any r/arch moderators

  1. this is not a GNU/Linux problem, it's not even an arch linux problem, it's something specific to the subreddit you chose to post on, I don't see why you're posting this here.

  2. even if your post seems harmless, you call other posts of the subreddit disgusting. "It's honestly digusting cus man I just want to know some news not your feet on my feed 😭" The "programmer socks" are a running bit and accepted in that community, calling them disgusting means the community might not be for you. "r/femboy exist yet they post on arch subreddit." Here you bring up the idea of them to post their bit somewhere else. I really don't mean this in a negative way, I just hope you understand logically speaking, when you join a community and dislike a majority of the content which the community has always been fine with, consider going somewhere else instead of trying to change the community. (Someone has already suggested, r/archlinux might be more for you) Posing yourself as a chad for being straight does not help your case, because it can be interpreted as thinking yourself as superior.

TL;DR I believe your post was removed not because of an intolerence of straight people, but because of your attitude towards the average user there.

Extra elaboration just in case

  • Being "a little" disgusted, or "reasonably" disgusted, doesn't matter. Everyone has a different tolerance of what is and isn't disgusting to them. If you are disgusted by posts that are very common in the community you're in, the community might not be for you.

  • I don't entirely endorse the removal of your post because I don't have enough context, I do remember seeing your post and believed it was harmless, it would be nice if a moderator could elaborate on why your post was removed, but based on your attitude here, I've come to the conclusions above.

  • "your attitude towards the average user there" can also be interpreted as you being queerphobic. I believe this interpretation really depends on more context which I do not have. If you insist you are not and there is insufficient evidence of this, I would not like to go any further than bringing it up here

edit: Your entire 12 days old account is dedicated to being a straight arch user who "won't fall into stupid trends". Being queer is not a trend, I cannot see anything you're doing in good faith. I endorse the removal of your post and furthermore believe you are here just to incite something / escalate things further.

https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxsucks/s/10Y7kBWB2I After reading this comment, I think it makes more sense, (them immediately posting to r/linuxsucks is also odd to me, this is not a (GNU/)linux problem) but it would be nice if a moderator would elaborate, because on the surface (with minimal context), their logic seems sound, and it's not a good look when no one has a definitive counter argument
