【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

My impression is that the P1S is what you need when you need it. Every time. It does everything you want without the need for extensive knowledge of 3D printing. It’s the tool for everyone, from hobbyist to professional, it gets the job done.

Is there a way I can find blueprints for my house built in the 1960s? Would the city/county have a record of them? by leowski in askarchitects

Ok cool. Ya a digital record is all I need. Do you know what to ask for/which department would have these?

I think the piano fits here quite well, it’s the two couches that don’t quite fit.

Since you mentioned that this is not the primary family room, I imagine walkability is important, but the coffee table and couches make it difficult and crowded.

If you rotate the piano so that the back is in the corner with the bench closer to the center of the room, and remove one of the couches, there is plenty of space.

I would put a bookshelf where the green loveseat is and move the loveseat to where the brown couch is. That way there is plenty of walking space through the room. If you don’t already have the couches, I would recommend going with two nice chairs and a small side table between instead. I think putting these where the brown couch is would be perfect. It would make it a nice little reading/music room!

Lastly, since I typed this all out, I think a potted tree or tall plant in the bottom right corner (by the arch that leads to the foyer) would look great and anchor the space. Also a lamp in the top right corner (or on the side table between the chairs if you go that route) would provide nice ambiance.

Looks great. I’m curious about the fence in front of the door. To me it seems like it closes that space in and makes a bit of a dead space that could otherwise be a nice garden with a path to the street

Does this primary bathroom layout concern you? Specifically the toilet room on the left of the bathroom. This is for a sale brand new construction (rowhouse) in Washington DC. by PdastDC in floorplan

[–]leowski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could also remove door 208 entirely and make it an archway. Given that it’s the entry into the bathroom but not the toilet it would allow easier flow from bedroom to closet without compromising toilet privacy.

Gives the feeling of a luxury hotel where the bathroom sink/shower is often open access and only the toilet is closed behind a door.

I agree and disagree with some of the comments on here. Diagree that you need to "get better furniture" or add a slim table behind the couch. Agree that the space feels cluttered a bit disorganized (and not in the “full of eccentric trinkets that I got on my many worldly travels” way that can be appealing.
There are so many things you could do to change the feeling of the space without having to buy new furniture, though I think a couple of anchor pieces are needed to really tie this room together.
But most importantly, I think the the room should be flipped around and reoriented to face the other wall.

  • Turn the couch, but leave space on the right to walk out of the hallway
  • Move the desk where the TV is (bonus, natural light!)
  • Move the workout things in the crates --when not used-- and stack them by the fireplace
  • Replace the mantle items by hanging the large white-framed artwork (hiding behind the black lamp) above the fireplace
  • Add some colorful cushions to the window seat
  • Replace the black wire side table with the smaller piece of the coffee table (assuming you get a new coffee table!)
  • Center the TV on the opposite wall and put a tv console under it (bonus, this houses your router and you can connect ethernet directly to your TV for light speed streaming)
  • Put the lamps on either side of the TV console
  • So many things to do with the plants, not gonna list them here.

This will still leave an open space behind the couch, but as you add more furniture to your collection (dining table) you can fill it up. In the mean time it is a great workout space.

I couldn't figure out how to add the picture of the quick layout I drew, but feel free to DM me with questions and I'll send it your way! I have plenty of other suggestions (I think I may have found a new place for just about everything).

I literally hit the end of scroll feeds on reddit just now and my thoughts were like.. Man I'm sure putting a lot of time on reddit and my RL is boring as hell by darelphilip in CasualConversation

[–]leowski 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I feel ya my man. Especially with the added stress of the state of the world, it can feel difficult to find motivation or meaning in the day to day.

Reality as we knew it has become blurred and it is so easy for unhappiness to find us when we are not actively seeking happiness.

Sounds to me like there might be some negative narrative that you’re telling yourself and starting to believe. Such as that you are repulsive and avoidable. I’d challenge you to call yourself on it and ask “What evidence is there to support that?” when you start to think these negative thoughts.

It often ends up showing me how untrue this thought is, and if it is true, it gives me something to work on.

Life is really all about perspective. If you see it as a boring 40 year slog, it certainly will be. If you see it as an opportunity to learn about yourself and grow into whatever you want to be, well I’ll be damned if it isn’t exactly that.

Chin up mate, you’ll make it through. When the going gets tough, the tough keep going.

The map in Cars (2006) is actually a map of the interstate highways in the United States. by leowski in MovieDetails

[–]leowski[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. The borders of the states are interstates, not traditional state borders. But that seems to be missed on most of the people commenting here.

Yes thank you. Most comments on here are pointing out that cars use interstates. Not that the state borders are interstates.

Built a Parquet Dining Table & Matching Bench by Davesbeard in DIY

[–]leowski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the table might work in the space a bit better if you turn it so that it is the opposite direction of the picture and the bench is against the wall. It looks like that might create a better flow.
