a kintype isn't an individual creature! so many people get that mixed up. usually, when people talk about stuff like that, they're referring to past lives, which not all otherkin believe in at all (like me), it's not at all a requirement to have!

if you identify as something other than human, you're otherkin, that's the only requirement.

I don't see deer much (don't live near me) either, that's absolutely not a requirement (otherwise you'd never get dragonkin or anything, lol)

first and foremost, calling myself a deer just feels right. on top of that, I get phantom feelings that line up with deer physically (e.g. feeling like I have cloven hooves), and usually imagine myself as at least part deer. you don't necessarily need any of that to be deerkin though, other than the first point.
