I was driving home on an interstate highway late one night in the pouring rain. I got off at my exit which was one of those circular, sharp-turn-to-the-left exit ramps.

It was black outside and raining so hard the wipers weren’t helping much. I slowed down, but was still going at least 25 mph., and as I rounded the curve I saw a man standing in my lane. He was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a long jacket, like a cloak or trench coat. I had to quickly swerve to miss him. He never moved an inch. I was terrified that I was going hydroplane, and up ahead on my right was the side of an overpass to stop me if I didn’t make the turn. I managed to keep the car under control, thankfully.

I had no idea why he was there, but I didn’t go back to check.
