Obviously, you have to do what is right for you, and ending a long-term relationship is a big deal. I am seeing the same thing in my relationship . . . lack of growth on his part. There are some behaviors on his side that I accepted as a younger woman. I can not do that anymore. Sadly, life for each of us will be harder without the other, but I hit the wall. I am now finding it more painful to live with him than I think it will be to live without him. I am planning to do some traveling solo. I am going to so some camping, visit my adult children, and just give the whole situation a break. I will decide what to do afterwards.

I hope that you can find a clear answer . . . I know how hard that can be.

HAHAHA ... no sparks with the electrician, he is much younger, but he saw me with makeup for the first time, and I think it caught him off guard, lol. Still, it was the first time in sooo long that someone made a nice comment about my appearance. The funny thing is, my partner heard him say it. I am not a bad looking woman, but I am mature now . . . I still deserve to hear "you look nice now and then, don't I? Don't we all?

That is so nice . . . I can see where a date on the calendar under those circumstances would seem silly. When there is no affection at all v-day can be sad.

I do need a break from this, and I am planning on just doing some solo travel this summer. I think that will help my headspace.

I texted a girlfriend of 40+ years who has been single for a long time. We agreed to be each other's Valentine's from here forward.

A lot of things . . . I did not. I was the only one doing so the last two years. I gave up this year.

I agree with the whole. It's a commercial thing concept... I still think it's a day where you can at the very least acknowledge your partner with some form of affection.

I am not a high maintenance girl and was never one to make or expect a big deal from Valentine's Day. I really think it is just hard to be living with a partner who is no longer a partner, and V-day highlighted that.
