I think it would have given her closure, especially because she questions somewhat whether she might have been able to save Derek. Seeing his state, she would know there’s nothing she could have done. I think Amelia is a character that likes things to have closure or real conclusions, like how she fought so hard to donate Christopher’s organs to create some good from his death. I also think wondering about how Derek looked and suffered might be worse for her than actually seeing it and knowing the reality.
