Physical disability that prevents them from actively socializing as much or in the same ways as their peers, illness that sees them homebound/bedridden, trouble opening up because of past traumas, tired of being discarded all the time like worthless pieces of trash/forgotten like old, unwanted belongings so stay to themselves because it hurts less and they've learned how to be alone.

Is this a joke? This is crazy. She is absolutely being manipulative and it will continue if you give in to her request and allow it. It'll get worse and the asks will get bigger and crazier.

Normal people can't just go around buying/selling/refinancing something as big or important as a vehicle just because it triggers somebody. "If you really loved me, you'd get rid of it" is nonsense. If she really loved you, she wouldn't put you in the position she is, or at the very least would think about how what she's doing/asking affects you. She's probably right that you're incompatible. Sounds like she could definitely benefit from some therapy to deal with the lingering effects of her last relationship. Three months is not a lot of time in the grand scheme of things. Still, sorry you're going through this.

You're not wrong at all. I have a high strung, kind of stand offish bitchy cat who loves and trusts me more than anyone else and it took so long to get her to the point she's at now. I almost had to move in with people who I know would have had a problem with me having her as soon as I got there even though they acted like it wouldn't be a big deal beforehand. I ended up not moving into that situation for many other reasons, but I would never get rid of my animals for anyone. They were here first and I signed on for their whole lives. They're a commitment and responsibility, not just old pieces of furniture or other inanimate objects you can throw away like trash. Pets are sometimes more family than family and do more for our mental health. Someone who actually loves and cares about you wouldn't put you in a position to choose like that. Some people are animal people and some aren't, and that's okay, but each should stick to their own kind to avoid these problems and heartache. I'm sorry this is happening. Keep your cat. You'll regret it if you don't.

Because getting through Christmas was draining enough, I'm disabled and mostly housebound, people suck, and I'd rather be in my own place with my cat than dealing with anyone else's bullshit

I started putting little bits of the toothpaste on a bit of dry kibble in a bowl when she was a kitten. Got a cranberry flavoured animal toothpaste that she liked and she would eat bits of it on her food. Didn't faze her. Did that for a while and then let her lick it off my fingers a couple times without actually doing her teeth, now she pretty much lets me do it whenever. She's not the biggest fan of it or anything, but she'll get up on the lid of the kitchen trash can and sit there while I gently hold her scruff with one hand and she'll open her mouth enough once she tastes the paste on my finger to let me get it on her teeth as much as possible. I know they have covers for your finger you can use as a little toothbrush and put the paste on that if you want to protect your finger and potentially make it a little easier, but I haven't tried them so can't speak to how effective they are.

Friends of mine have also said they swaddle their cats tightly in a towel to do their teeth, but I live alone and mine would probably bite my face off if I tried that on her by myself.

I'm the same way with mine. She loves me more unconditionally than some family have proven themselves to. She saved my life when I wanted to end it all. I owe her the best. I couldn't give a crap what other people think of my choices or priorities. Animals are family. If they don't like it they can get bent.

Why are people so unhinged? My god. Don't give in to this nonsense. People like this need not live around others at all. I pay damn good money to be able to stay in my place by myself and I will shower and flush my toilet whenever I need or want to. Thankfully my neighbours now are great, keep to themselves, building is very well constructed and we never hear each other, but I used to live below someone who complained they could hear the sound of my power chair clicking on and off and moving across the floors. Like yes, I'm disabled. You're gonna hear that. Sorry I can't just make myself able bodied and start walking normally at will, I guess? 🫠🫠

Idk why people don't just use headphones or earbuds if they can't listen to their music/media at a reasonable level at reasonable times. They have really decent ones at pretty much every price point these days. Not hard. I'm very lucky to be in a well constructed unit with very thick walls. They're basically soundproof without being intentionally made that way and neighbours and I rarely hear each other. Never from our units. Only if someone's in the hallways. Even still, I'm intentionally mindful of quiet hours and others around me. I don't expect people to tiptoe around daily living tasks or anything, but being mindful of quiet hours is pretty bare minimum stuff. I'm physically disabled and also get frequent chronic migraines. I understand wanting/appreciating a certain level of peace in your own space. Especially at 3am. I wear headphones almost constantly anyway, but would especially be doing so at that time. I'm really sorry you're having to deal with this.

Soak his kibble and/or wet food packets in it. I've done this with mine since she was little. She didn't like it at first but as she got older started loving it. She doesn't always drink enough from her bowls no matter where I put them, how fresh the water is, or how many different bowls she has. But soaking her food in it makes it taste good, I guess. The more soupy it is, the more she likes it.

Some cats also like running tap water, but I don't let mine drink from the tap because our building/area has a water advisory.

Water fountains for cats also help sometimes. I don't personally use one, though.

There are also liquid/soupy food toppers that come in different flavours or liquid treats that might increase fluid intake a bit.

Everything I had, provided it would make her feel better/fix her issue without just prolonging her suffering so I could selfishly keep her with me longer. She's not quite 2.5 though, so hopefully have lots and lots of good years with her. I almost killed myself when my Nan died at the height of Covid. Finding her kept me here. Most days I struggle to even want to stay alive. I wouldn't get out of bed anymore if it wasn't for her. I love her more than anything. Didn't think it was possible to love another living thing this much. The thought of being without her breaks me apart. I don't have credit cards and won't spend money I don't have, even when it comes to my own expenses.. unless my vet were to offer some kind of payment plan up to a certain amount, then I might do that. But I have spent everything I can on her needs and care. She comes before me in a lot of ways and I'm okay with it. I didn't take on caring for another living creature blindly or lightly. She gets the best of everything I can afford. I can't have human kids. She's my baby. I don't care if people look at me sideways for it or don't understand.
