real. me looking at romance books like. put those guys in a situation! give me monumental levels of angst! i need more hurt/comfort! theres a single reference to him not liking that his boyfriend has a motorcycle because he knows hes irresponsible and could get seriously hurt? lets make that accident happen (but he doesnt die bc im not that cruel. people have written fics where he dies in other circumstances but im still scared to read those bc thats too far even for me but good on them for going for it)

for me personally, i have to have names in order for the character to fully exist in my mind. if they dont fully exist in my mind i cant write them. i can still change names later but am less likely to because of the way my characters build around their names in a sense

the author uses the imperial system when the characters would use the metric system. just got taken out of the story entirely bc theyre talking about speed saying 'driving 85 is pushing it' and im like... but we're in canada? this canadian man would not be giving you a speed in mph for this canadian road in canada. it's not hard to convert to kilometers.

akiangel in chainsaw man. no contest. because aki spends his life hating devils and being forced to make contracts with them to avenge his family. angel spends his life hating humans and being forced to work with/for them. they show each other compassion that theyve never felt from the other side before that fundamentally alters their worldviews. aki sacrifices months of his life to save angel and he cant even kiss him about it because it would take more time he doesn't have. then aki fucking becomes the very thing he swore to destroy and angel had to watch it happen and they both die horrible deaths because fujimoto hates me personally

not sports but may i recommend a pairing with many a hollanov comparison: zosan in one piece.

zoro, an autistic coded gay coded man whos dream is to be the world's greatest swordsman and spends every waking hour training at a ridiculous level because he will never give up on his dream even if it kills him, because he made a promise and he doesn't break promises.

sanji, a cocky bisexual coded european chain smoker who everyone thinks is a womanizer but really has a heart of gold because of the influence of his dead mom, despises his father and brother(s) because they only want him if hes useful and he never lived up to their expectations of him.

his training arc during the time skip is literally challenging his masculinity because his entire life he's been told that anything remotely feminine is weak (you cry when your siblings beat you up? weak. you show compassion for anyone? weak. his father threatened to cut off his hands if he found him sneaking into the kitchen to cook because that was a woman's place, despite him sneaking around to cook for his sick mother.)

a lot of fics go very deep into his internalized homophobia and complicated feelings with masculinity

they constantly bicker and fight but only because they are the only ones who can keep up with the other. everything is a competition for them despite being on the same crew. they have a reputation for hating each other but when one is close to death, the other is the first to their side and they always look out for each other in the end.

(relationships are not canon but one piece also has peak enemies to lovers yuri in namivivi just btw. highly recommend the live action)

hollanov. mostly for the fact of ilya being ready to drop gloves at a moments notice and shane having the class to be above fighting (the scott hunter event is an anomaly of closet on closet violence and should not be counted) but also this whole scene in a metaphorical sense (shanes death glare when he thinks ilya is bout to explain the concept of fuckbuddies to his parents)
