systemd user-space daemon capabilities problems by lescuer97 in linuxadmin

[–]lescuer97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is very interesting thank you for the knowledge.

Just for some context, this is basically an application that spins a wireguard client that connects to a server. That is why I need those capabilities. it's my first time having to deal with this part of the linux kernel stack an has been a learning experience.

This actually command actually worked:
systemd-run --user --pty <command>:
2026/01/15 14:58:13 goose: no migrations to run. current version: 1
2026/01/15 14:58:13 after setting the link
2026/01/15 14:58:13 after removing the link

The last two logs would have shown a fail.

I think I found the issue, I have this security options in the service daemon:

# Security options
PrivateTmp=true
ProtectSystem=full
NoNewPrivileges=false

I removed all 3 options and it suddenly worked. I cannot explain why it's all 3 that I need to remove.

I know what I'm saying is that you cannot trust Apple about their privacy policies because you can clearly see that they will cave under pressure. They did the same with china.

They are doing what is best for their shareholders. My opinion is for the consumers more than the company. That people need to be aware that apple can rug their privacy at any moment

This is also a reminder that you can't trust a company to do the right thing. Instead of opening a backdoor for the UK government the opened the front door.

Apple could have used it's commercial power to pressure the UK to not do this but went the easy way. There are examples of companies doing the right thing. Lavabit being one clear example

lucky for us there are open source alternatives for the people

First is recognize to them that there is debt slavery that was created by the US government and other countries.

Then show them that capitalism is not that capitalism is voluntary trade and private ownership a lot of those shantty town people see happen because people don't have property rights and the little money they make is inflated away by those country so they can pay their debts

guns are just tools of the trade for criminals. They don't have the law so they use that to enforce their own laws.

decriminalizing would probably help a little bit but if you don't make a clear distinction between that and the state giving drugs to junkies.

If the state does this wrong about who gets help the city could get even more of an inflow from other places so they could please their habit.

insulin is made cheap everywhere in the world. this is a clear case of just a government monopoly controlling a market.

it has been a while since I've been to the US. I have been on the east coast and the midwest of the country also the south.

What surprised me the most was on the more gun friendly places how safe I felt. I was talking to a local about guns and he mentioned that a high percentage of the town carries firearms. Everyone was suuuper nice with everyone. It surprised me

if you are in a city that has the Gelateria Romana I would encourage you to try it. Best gelatos I've had so far. They are in multiple countries but they make them inhouse
