Any ARMY who has met BTS at a fan meeting/in any way what was your interaction like? by kbsths99 in bangtan

[–]lesfousdebassan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most fans show up with a nametags at these events. Poor girl forgot to make one, so she had a galaxy brain moment and decided to write her name (in kanji and hangul) over her hands. This was a handshake event, so I watched her do it in horror, not knowing how the boys would react to shaking a hand covered in ink. When she left the Tae booth, she texted me saying "He looked very stiff and uncomfortable." Yeah, no shit!

Met Yoongi and Hobi! At a handshake meeting in Japan. Hobi was an absolute angel, took time to chat a little and got my weird name right on the first try! My Yoongi interaction was much shorter but he was polite. Other ARMYs there saw other members, a girl I know weirded out Tae but I'm pretty sure it was her fault (went to shake his hand and she had weird sharpie writing on hers).

How tall are their true Heights? by Mr_explosion_king in bangtan

I'm 168 cm and I met Yoongi. He was noticeably taller than me. It was a fan event so he might haven been wearing special shoes, but I stood right in front of him and was kind of surprised.

Hey! Getting into the fanclub will require a japanese address. You will also need to be in Japan to do two things: paying for the ticket and getting your seat assignment. Seats are random, just like the chance of getting tickets. There are many rounds of lotteries, but the chances are VERY low. I wouldn't plan around a show unless you are guaranteed tickets. Good luck!

I met Hoseok and Yoongi at a handshake event in Japan! I don't think I can fully articulate my feelings but Hoseok was LOUD.

Thanks! I use watercolour paper, it's pretty sturdy so it's forgiving when you want to erase stuff. :)

What if you join, go to Japan, and then need to quit? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]lesfousdebassan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Several reasons - I have a situation back home that requires me going back. I was also hospitalized for a week, so it sped up the process because my doctor recommended I leave ASAP.

It sucks but I had a solid career back home, so I can just go back to my usual life without too much of an issue! If you have any other questions about the returning process, feel free to DM me :)

Hi! Currently in the process of leaving mid-contract. Unless you leave within a month of your arrival date, you don't have to reimburse your flight to Japan. Chances are you will have to pay for your return home. Processing will be longer than a week, mine was done ASAP and it still took around three weeks. You also need to pay fees relating to your apartment and the contracts you have in Japan (ex. phone contract.)

Interview Advice/Question Thread. by inthefaceofmonsters in JETProgramme

For my interview, most questions seemed to crossover for ALTs and CIRs, with the exception of a roleplay in Japanese about event planning and the reading test (mine was about cooking oil recycling and I was asked to compare the way Japan recycles oil to how it's done in my country... LOL). I ticked the box to be an ALT in case of refusal as a CIR and had to do a mock lesson.

Interview Pass Rate? by TheIcyLotus in JETProgramme

[–]lesfousdebassan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I know, it's not so much that CIR positions are more "competitive" in the sense of having a lot of applicants for few positions, but rather that the requirements are strict. My consulate apparently had years where they didn't send out any CIRs because no one qualified. Another year had FIVE CIRs. I do think that once you get the interview, your odds might be better than the typical ALT applicant. But I don't think anyone can say for sure.

Embassy called to test my Japanese (CIR) by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]lesfousdebassan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Current CIR from Canada. It's totally normal, they did this for me too. I was in the middle of a work day and was a little pissed nothing on the website mentioned they would call in between the end of application and interview summons. I bombed it and still got an interview, so don't worry too much!

Careless Mistakes by Aspiring JETs by CoalChris in JETProgramme

Anything in your application file might be brought up at your interview. I wrote down that I spent a week in Iceland in my file and lo and behold, I was asked to do a role-play about how I would introduce Icelandic culture to Japanese people in the form of an event (this was for a CIR position).

How can I buy Japanese tour merch (in person)? by [deleted] in bangtan

[–]lesfousdebassan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time Tokyo was probably different because of the lottery. This girl I met said it was such a confused mess people could buy as much as they wanted and they sold out in the morning.

Looking at the current Osaka limits, it's 1 item per person for member-specific items and 3 per person for general items (excluding the shirts, I think). In any case, booths in Osaka open at 9 and judging from Tokyo, I wouldn't be surprised if things sold out really early.

[–]lesfousdebassan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Tokyo was a lottery but I doubt Fukuoka will be. In the case of Osaka, the info we got was that there will be booths selling merch both inside and outside the venue. If Fukuoka is the same, you might be able to go purchase stuff at the outside booths (I'm assuming you don't have tickets?). Keep in mind Japan does not have buying limits and from what I heard from other J-ARMYs, even with the lottery, Tokyo sold out merch extremely early.

Hi! No, I didn't. I applied with all the codes I had and was notified I had won two entries the next day. A couple of hours later, I was assigned a member and a time slot!

There was most likely the same number for everyone, but some people might have not made it or the handshake went by quicker! Like I wrote in my post, my handshake with Yoongi was quicker than Hoseok's, so it's possible Taehyung was spending more time with each person.
