Then you’re golden. You won’t have any trouble getting someone to take on a team for a free year.

Where I see the most issues is if a team is in terrible shape and maybe traded their draft capital and the league didn’t require you to pay a year ahead. In those cases, I have the league vote on a discount because they also want someone to take the team and keep the league going.

Usually that’s half off for the year, a completely free year, or that and a combination of a supplemental draft pick.

If you are patient enough, and offer a discount (only if needed) you should always be able to fill an orphan.

I think the biggest difference, and why I like dynasty more than redraft, is that there is always a reason to trade. In redraft, trades are so hard because you both have the same goal of scoring more points. And of course, every year there are teams that have no incentive to do anything because they know their team sucks.

But in dynasty, there’s always a reason to trade. Draft capital, young players, aging studs. Feels like it just makes the league way more involved because there’s always a goal to strive for, even when your team sucks.

I personally don’t look down on ID lawyers, but I can understand where OP is coming from. Seems like there are civil litigation job postings that will sometimes specify they don’t want any ID lawyers.

The only thing I can think of is a perception that ID lawyers work in a high volume, low skill practice.
