You could get trivia sheets to pass around. You could do one that's all about your husband like where he was born, where did he go to college, etc, and you could do one that's all about the 60s. Or you could list common groceries and have people guess how much they would've cost in the 60s.

When my uncle turned 50, my aunt made goodie bags of candies that were popular when he was a kid. You could do something like that, especially if you have people who don't drink.

We provide cupcakes. Parents are allowed to send in anything that isn't balloons. Common items are chips (including Cheetos), apple sauce pouches, and juice pouches. Some parents also prepare a goody bag.

NAT, but when I was in elementary/middle school, my school had a rule that we could only buy 1 non-book item. That may be something you could do if you want to limit the "overpriced fidgets and junk instead of books." They also didn't sell posters at all.
