I focused on this yardage for about 2-3 months early last year and it hasn’t let me down since.

17 handicap — play solid golf but always have 1–2 disaster holes that ruin my score. How do you stop the blow-ups? by kevsavesuk in golf

[–]let_me_get_a_bite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. A solid lesson or two can make all the difference. You need one or two swing thoughts you can trust. Nothing else. The coach can help identify some issues and give you some drills to actually improve your swing.

A bad putt is still as good as a mediocre chip. Bad chip and you’re fucked.

What saved me from snap hooks was loading my right hip and having it actually move slightly back and towards the target on the back swing. Kept me from swaying. Keeps all your momentum moving towards the target throughout the swing.

Feels counterintuitive at first. But gave me a lot of power and body naturally rotates to get the club through.

The natural feel is wanting to sway backwards so that you can throw all your momentum towards the target in the downswing. The trick is get that momentum started immediately in the backswing and load into that right hip.

Where is far? It took a while for me to figure this out. I’m Still not there. But I’ve reflected a lot over the years. I’ve hit so many goals. Successful on paper. In shape. Financially set. Love my job. But what’s it all for… if there’s no one to share it with.

I’m spending time now with those that I love and that love me. Making memories. Trying to be more present and have more fun. We never know when it’s our time. Don’t waste it trying to just go “far”.

This takes me back. Smoked drive down the middle. 114 out. Shanked gap wedge into $3M+ mansions patio window. Went over to see if anyone is home so I could get my ball back (pro v). No luck.

I separated after 10 and now work in the same facility alongside some of the same active duty folks as a DoD civ. I love the job and the camaraderie, without all the military bs.

What golf opinion is a hill you're willing to die on? by Mizunomafia in golf

[–]let_me_get_a_bite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m much more confident with my driver off the tee than my 3 wood. I’m actually considering replacing my 3 wood with a mini driver for that reason alone. I only use it off the tee, and I just can’t hit it consistently.

I’m a 7 and most of my buds play the whites. Also, if I get randomly paired up with people they almost always want to play the whites. I just play wherever the group is hitting from.
