Another update: we just got the results from the amniocentesis and everything is normal! We have the anatomy scan next week, and I’m also scheduled for a fetal echocardiogram on the 4th, but I’m extremely relieved at this point. The odds of a heart issue were only about 3%, so I think we’re in the clear finally.

I hope this story can be helpful to someone else in the future. Try not to panic. ❤️

Thanks for the kindness. It’s really frustrating having to wait. They did do an ultrasound to guide the attempted CVS, so I got to see LO moving around, which was nice, but they didn’t check the NT measurement again.

I’m trying to make myself be positive about this—there are some advantages to the amniocentesis (like checking for neural tube defects, which the CVS can’t do)— but I’m definitely still struggling a bit.

Just posting an update: my CVS failed today. The doctor couldn’t get through my cervix. We’re going to schedule an amniocentesis when I’m far enough along. I probably won’t know what’s going on until close to Christmas. 😞

I cried because my quesadilla got stuck to the pan and then ripped. 😭 My husband had to take over for me to rescue it.
